Well, I guess I've spent enough time on this site! My 454 casull dream was replaced with a tc dream! I orginally just wanted to buy an action, so I ordered one. I had just finished putting money down when a gentleman came into the shop and started talking about how the prairie dogs were just coming out. So, then I had to find a barrel FAST! I got this .308 win barrel and scope off specialty pistols. Now I'm dreaming about some JDJ stuff!

Have a great day!

Looks like you're well on your way ;-)

Rod, too.

I have not even had the chance to pull the trigger yet! I am considering another barrel already.... sigh. I'd like something a little more suited for prairie dogs. Tryin' to decide between .204 ruger and .223. Any suggestions?

Looks Loud. Plan on hearing protection full time shooting it.

I fired a Super 14 in 375 JDJ deer hunting several years ago with the SSK arrestor, and no hearing protection. WOW I never did that again. I had no idea a long barreled handgun could be that loud.

Choices 223 vs 204. I think either would work out to a couple hundred yards. The 223 has a much better selection of bullets. With the 204 and 32 or 40 grain bullets you do not have as much punch down range. I hear complaints about coyotes running off after a 204 hit with a 32. This problem might be worse from a 15 inch barrel. I would probably stay with a 223 myself.

It looks like you have been bitten by the T/C bug. You can't go wrong with the Little Rem .223 with a .55 gr. V-max I have taken Groundhogs out past 250 yards, with my longest @ 309 yards lazer ranged. I also use my "Super 14" in .22 Hornet for small game out to about 150 Yds.

Good looking Encore.

The 204 is a good PD round. The 223 is also with a lot better ammo choices available at a better price.
If you reload all is a wash.

Thanks everyone.

I am leaning towards .223. Mostly for the factory ammo availibity and price. Living in hotel rooms make it hard to reload. I have been thinking about buliding a reloading setup that is easily packable.

Lots of anecdotal evidence in favor of these kits, but I have no hands-on with them. I've only reloaded with a Dillon press, but soon to be a Lee Turret Press man. A lot of good reloading info can be found over on http://www.shootersforum.com which is a forum run by Beartooth Bullets.
