Just wondering if any of you were going to hunt Antelope with the 7mm TCU, what would be your choice on bullets and weights.

You could go with a 120 grain barnes or nosler ballistic tip. I would stay away from shoulder shots though especially with the nosler. There is also an advantage to something in a flat base round nose like a core lock or something from hornady. I would look for a bullet that will expand down to the 1800 mark and stay within a good comfortable range. I dont have a 7tcu but I am looking at my reloading manual for it and for my 7/30 waters and you can push the 120 fast enough to work for antelope it looks like pretty smoothly.

The 120gr V-Max worked well on deer from my Waters. I could only imagine that they would work equally well in the T/CU.

I used to go to Montana regularly with mine and had good luck with Hornady 120gr spire points. Mike
Enjoy your family and friends today as they may not be here tomorow.

I've taken antelope and deer with the 7mmTCU, the 120 Nosler BT is the way to go.

I have killed whitetails in Wisconsin with my 7TCU out to 185 yards cleanly with shoulder shots using 120 grn Nosler balistic tips. I think that with the 7-30 waters, and the added velosity, the ballistic tip wouldn't hold up quite as well. You would get more of an explosive expansion, but with the slightly slower 7TCU, the Nosler BT is bad medicine!

All super choices. I made a mistake one year shooting a deer with my 7R using the 139 gr Hornady. I found her but had to walk circles. She didn't go far but there was no blood on the ground. I could not find any accuracy with either of my pistols with light bullets because they were rifled for heavy silhouette bullets. I also had a problem once with this bullet in my 7mm-08 from my Lone Eagle. Then the bullet would explode in deer from my 280. I did a lot of work with powders and had some Varget so I called Hodgdon and they told me it was WAY too slow and would not work. I did it anyway and Holy Smokes, it shoots great with good velocity and more accuracy then I ever found before with the 120 gr bullet. It works great in the 7BR, 7R which is like the Waters, the 6.5x55 and about any other gun I tried it in. Even Hodgdon doesn't know what a great powder it is! The 7BR using 32.5 gr of Varget and a 120 gr bullet gives me 2175 fps from a 10" barrel. It burns clean too. In the 7R I use 34.5 gr. (30-30 case necked to 7mm.) The 7TCU might be too small for Varget but it is not a picky caliber and can shoot about anything as far as bullets. Use a powder that works best in it.

The 145 and 160 Speer spitzer FB hit steel pretty hard. I use 748, 335, and BL-C2 to get the speed required. Deep penetration and breaking bones has always worked best for me on deer and boar.

Hornady told me not to use their 162's in the TCU. Something about minimal expansion velocity. They said it would punch a nice neat hole right threw game. On steel the heaver bullets are adventitious. On game, I would use lighter bullets. JMHO…
