Hi guys,

While back I had a thread trying to decide what handgun to get. Ended up with a .357 Blackhawk 4-5/8". I want to use it for hunting coyotes and maybe deer. I have some Leverevolution and some Buffalo Bore.

Also have a Single Six 22lr/22mag I'd like to use for rabbits and maybe coyotes if I can call 'em in real close.

I'd like to be able to shoot both out to 100 yds which I did a little of Sat. For now I'll be using off the shelf ammo. I'm wondering what's a good point to sight in zero. OR should I learn how many clicks which way for different yardages?

Example : I have a Savage Edge for yotes (haven't actually gotten out and whacked any yet). I'm zeroed at about 200 which is about as far as I can shoot (newbie, no parallax adjustment on scope) to make best use of the .223 trajectory, it's whithin a couple inches of POA from around 50 to 250 yds.

I'd like to have my pistols the same. Averaged out from 25 to 100 or so but haven't yet found the trajectory info like I did for the .223.

Thanks

I would sight the .357 for 75 yards. I usually set my hunting revolvers there or an inch high at 50 yards gets it close. I use an Ultra Dot now and can then hit a deer or pop can at 100.
The .22 has to be experimented with, more drop. I had a Mark I standard model long ago so I kind of forget. It had fixed sights and it was dead on at either 20 or 25 yards. Since the bullet was still going up in relation to the sights, it fell back through the sight picture at 80 yards.
A 10" Mark II was used for IHMSA and I just adjusted the sights. From the 25 yard setting it took 1 click for 50, 1 more for 75 and 5 for 100. But poi movement for the long barrel is less then a short barrel so you would need less since each click moves poi more.
I can tell you a .22 sighted for 25 drops 53" at 200.
I would sight the .22 for 80 yards and measure where it hits from 20 to 100 without an adjustment.
Makes for a fun day of shooting anyway.
