I am using a 22MAG revolver, with iron sights, the gun resting on a solid tripod, and I am sitting... at 50 yards I place 3 out of 6 shots in a 4 inche bullseye, the rest on the paper 8x11.

It is a good start. It is even better that you are out honing your skills!!

Thanks.
I am realizing how important it is to practice!
Will try for my first Coyote in a few weeks.

Practice, practice , practice and when you really think you got it. Your gun will look at you and laugh and you will miss everything you are shooting at. But it keeps you coming back.

Iv been pistol shooting for a year. It is great just dont get discouraged. Iv got so mad wanted to sell everything. Then you go out and the perfect shoot happens and then you buy more guns.

Mike,
Just keep practicing and focusing on the basics of stance, breathing, grip, sight picture, and trigger pull.
Do not let others (not here) convince of what you cannot do.
Try to find an experienced handgun hunter and learn from him/her.
Keep up the good work.

Sounds good Mike.

You can also move the target up to say 50 feet and get a "large" view of the target with the sights against it. Now concetrate on the front sight centered in the notch and see what ya get. Sure helps the minds "reflex" when aligning the sights at different ranges. Any practice is all good.

Ernie, Tigger, and all amazing hand gunners,

Many thanks for your help and encouragement!!!
Was at the range today...
at bench rest at 100 yds.... did not even hit the paper 8x11.
Back to 50 yds... and practice all the above.

Thanks,
Mike

Realize that iron sights can be quite difficult at 100 yards, especially for a newbie with a target only 8x11 inches.
Get a bigger target, and also consider the wind, which will move your bullet more than you might think at 100 yards

Practice every chance you can get. Practice using shooting sticks and off hand. You probally won't have the luxury of a good rest in the woods unless you hunt from a treestand with a shooting rail.

Also remember that a 22 caliber rimfire will drop 6" at 100 yards form a 50 yard zero. So if you were aiming dead center at 100 on a piece of paper that was olny 11 long the bullet dropped 1/2" off the paper.

Put up bigger paper....LOL
