Went to the range today with the new 22mag, 10.5" barrel, bolt action & continued to sight-in this puppy. I am so glad I gave up/removed the iron sights for hunting Coyotes!!!!
I can not believe the accuracy of a longer barreled handgun with a scope! At bench, I put 6 rounds within a 5" circle at 50 yards... doing 100 yards next!

I am truly sorry if I offend anyone because I'm shooting a "22".... I am in awe of all the higher caliber experienced handgun hunters on this sight and hope to get to where you are at someday.. hopefuly I can post some pics of my first Coyote kill next!
Mike

Don't apologize because you use a 22,the 22 affords the handgun hunter the practice needed to stay sharp. Grip, sight picture and trigger squeeze!

A .22 is a cheap way to stay sharp and whole bunch of fun to shoot! Don't apologize!

I love my 22. It gets shot 100 times more than any other gun I have.

Never apologize for shooting a .22, most of love our big bores, but the .22 has a special place in our heart.

I shoot the .22 as often as I can, squirles with a .22 is a whole lot of fun and good practice for the bigger stuff.

.22 mag. is a lot more gun than you think, that baby will take out groundhogs and coyotes all day long with good shot placement of course.

I would guess that I have shoot 5000 rounds through my 22's this year. I have probably only shot 2000 rounds of centerfire between rifles and handguns. Like was said above, a 22 is a great, inexpensive way to practice, and a lot of fun.

I dropped a yote dead in his tracks at 55 yards with a .22 mag.
Try a couple of different brands and weights of bullets. I like PMC Predators (40 grain) for yotes while CCI Maxi-Mag HP+V (30 gain) turns jack rabbits into a red mist, well maybe not quite, but it sure does blow guts every which-aways.

Don't confuse shooting with hunting.
Shooting is a game, hunting is a sport.

I almost for got.

About 16-17 years ago, I was going to check my deer stand and I always carried my single six .22mag with me for snakes and such. I was walking down a trail when a 4 point buck came crashing out of the bushes at about 30 yards, I drew my gun and fired 2 quick shots hitting him once in the shoulder and once in the neck. Killed him dead, I was sooooo proud of my self for thart accomplishment, after looking at the deer a little closer, I found he had 2 broke back legs from buck shot and dog hunters and apparently got away, then I was more proud that he didn't die in the woods and waste. Don't remember what the bullet did to him exactly as that was long ago, but he didn't suffer any more and sure tasted good.

That was my first handgun kill on a deer, and that started me off, since I have taken several deer and hogs with big bores and countless squirles, armadilolos, and such with the gool ole .22.
