Haven't been able to find any load data using the Hornady XTP in 250 Grain? I have the 7th edition of the Hornady Reloading Book and it jumps from 240 grain to 300 grain XTP in the .452 size. Any particular reason why since I've read some other posts on jacket thickness issues. Any help would be appreciated.

The 250 xtp is not designed for high pressures as is the 240 & 300 mag. The 250 is designed for the 45LC loads and a few of the lower end 454 casull. Hope this helped.

That definately answers the question. I'll just have to take a ride to the other shop in Wilkesboro to get some of them. Thanks for the help..

the 250X.T.P's are not to be pushed past 1600 f.p.s.,thats why they came up with the 240X.T.P. mag bullets, this info. came to me from the Hornady techs.

But you aren't really pushing the bullet directly, and you aren't jumping a cylinder gap. You are pushing the sabot, at least I don't know anyone who runs them in a .45 cal ML with no sabot. I run that bullet in my .50 cal at 2000 fps with no issues.

Are you sure that its the 250gr.?because the sabots I have for my ML are the 240gr.X.T.P. mags

The bullet/sabot combo I use isn't sold commercially. I buy the Hornady bullets by the 100 from reloading suppliers and buy the sabots (black) from MMP Sabots.

I have also shot and hunted with the green sabot/240 XTP Mag combo from Traditions (I think) and it is very accurate in my Encore. I have only made one kill with that combo and it was a head shot, so I don't have any information regarding it's effectiveness on a "normal" shot placement. The .452 XTP/black sabot combo got two deer this year and I was more than satisfied with the performance on typical cardio-pulmonary shot placement.
