Got mine put together few months ago. I am using a Kimber steel frame and the Clark conversion. It is a hoot to shoot and is the most accurate pistol I own. I think I am going to really like it with hard cast, gas checked bullets. It will chrony 1,370fps with 230 grain bullets! Brass is kind of hard to find but it is out there. Found a gas checked lead bullet mold in 200 and 230 grain. Both of them shoot very, very good! So does almost any heavy, jacketed 45 acp bullet. http://www.clarkcustomguns.com/rowland.htm 5 shots in the red circle OFFHAND at 15 yards!

wm5l,
I have two 460 Rowlands, a Clark conversion like yours, on a Kimber SS Super Match and a limited run Dan Wesson revolver. They both shoot everything very well! I have tried, cast and jacketed, 185s through 250s. The DW is a 5 1/2" barrel and yields slightly lower velocities than the fixed chamber 1911, no surprise there.

Sweet pistol. I have a Clark on my wish list. What do you think of the porting, recoil vs muzzle blast, etc?
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Sweet pistol. I have a Clark on my wish list. What do you think of the porting, recoil vs muzzle blast, etc? The brake does exactly what it is supposed to do. It reduces felt recoil buy a fair amount and it makes the gun loud as hell. I am going to test some amplified ear muffs or some of the hearing aid type in the ear plugs with it before I hunt with it. Just for "fun" I shot it ONE time without protection and it was a mistake. I think my hearing was damaged a little, no kidding. This is a very loud gun with that brake on it but what I can find on the web it is a necessary evil for this cartridge on this type of gun frame excluding the Les Bear version for that sells for FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS! I planned to use this pistol for a large game backup carried in a chest holster from http://www.diamonddcustomleather.com/Chest_Holsters.php I have on for my scandium frame 44 mag and LOVE it. For a fat boy it doesn't get any better or more comfortable than this. These are top quality rigs from Dave. I tell everybody I know about these holsters. I guess I sound like a salesman for him but they really work good for me. Anyway I can not tell you how much I like shooting this rig. You guys that have one of these guns and cast lead I can hook you up with a killer Gas check bullet.......Jim
