Finally did it.... traded in my Savage Edge 223 rifle for a TC 223 G2 Contender 14" barrel in blue! Been hoping to get one for years... Now down to only handguns! Can't wait to camp & hunt this year and bring in a Coyote! Cabin fever has taken it's toll on the wallet! Mike

Believe the words that are coming out of my mouth! Ive got a few long guns in my cabinet ,noticed I said a few. The rest went to handguns. Once I got my first kill with a handgun it was all over . I ended up with a 15" Encore in 243 , I just bought a RSBHH which I love and this weekend I bought a 35 rem Contender. Its crazy but fun! The long guns I have left will stay in the gun cabinet but my handgun collection will only continue to grow.

I don't know if I'll ever get rid of all my long guns, as I've been shooting long guns all my life. But this handgun hunting is getting addictive. There are a few long guns in my safe that will never be replaced by anything. The sentimental value makes them priceless.

This illness they call handgun hunting has no cure! I have no intention of seeking a cure either!!

So what your saying is that they put a substance like nicotine in the metal and every time we handle/fondle one we have this sensational itch to buy more?
Me, I just like the smell of the powder at the range!!! It is like a good wine!

It is also very gratifying for me to honestly be able to feed my family with wild game. You would not believe the garden my Wife has planed when we get back to Texas...

Well Mike, welcome to the addiction.
The very first time I ever called in a Coyote while hunting with a Contender Handgun I actually had a pair come in. I sat there on top of that bale pile thinking "now how am I going to pull this one off". After a short deliberation with myself I shot the rear one (farthest away from me) but I messed up the shot hitting it a little too far back. This actually turned out to be a good thing as while the wounded Coyote was spinning in circles it was yipping like crazy.
The close in Coyote turned to see what all the yipping was about which gave me enough time to reload, compose myself and drop that one in it's tracks. I then quickly reloaded again and finished off the first one.
Talk about exiting? I thought I was going to pee my pants I was so excited. I had just done something I had never done with a rifle, call in and kill a pair.
That was with a Virgin Valley Custom Guns 15" SST 6mm T/CU Contender Barrel shooting 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips. I ended up trading that barrel to a member on this forum, a decision I have lived to regret.
Yep soon you are going to planning and scheming on what you next barrel and chambering will be. What length the barrel will be and what scope you need for it. Man ain't this fun and it never ends as there is always one more.

Before I got into the Navy I was very involved with a Long Hunter group in Texas. The pistols are both 54cal’s with 14in barrels. One is swamped an the other is Oct-to-Round. I love to shoot my black powders, but I thought I was “up-town” when I went to the Contender! Couldn’t believe how quickly I could reload... LOL

LOL We, my Dad a couple of friends and I, went on a woods walk and one of us had to carry a pistol as a main firearm. I was quickly volunteered/voluntold for some reason. We later found out that the pistolear had to shoot all the 6in steal gongs that the rifles did which ranged from 10 to 75 yards. I shot the highest score for the entire day, with my short rifle!

I don’t know. The only time I got that far south or west was for a rendezvous. The ALRA (American Long Rifle Ass.) that I spent most of my time with met at the “Dallas” gun club in Athens near Seven Points.
