Wish I could afford to reload my own.... unfortunately that is not possible now. So I need to know what type of round (JHP, SP, etc) and manufacturer is recommended for a .223 TC Contender? Target is Coyote at 50 to 75 yards. Mike

If you want to put it down quick use the varmint bullets. All brands make them. They have a thinner jacket and open up rapidly.

Does anyone load the Nosler BT @ the factory? If they did that would be the route I would go. It will do a number on the hides. So that might give you a problem if you want to save them.

Federal loads Nosler Ballistic Tips, however a more ecconomical way to go is UltraMax Commercial Reloads. They too load 40, 50 & 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips if memory serves me correctly. The only ones I have personally shot are the UltraMax Commercail Reloads with the 40gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips and the 52gr. Speer Flat Base Hollow Point.
Both of these loads have shot very well in a couple different Super 14 .223 Contender Handguns. I have not used both to take Coyotes but have used both to take PD's and the bullet performance is great.

Wish I could afford to reload my own.... unfortunately that is not possible now. I was thinking after my previous answer that a Lee Loader in .223 might be a way to go. You can find them on e-Bay at reasonable prices. Like this one. .223 Lea Loader on e-Bay Quite frequently on e-Bay you can find a Lee Hand Press for around $40 shipping included. A set of dies & shell holders later on and you can be reloading for less than $75. For $100 if you use a powder scale & not the scoops. Empty shell casings can be used for powder scoops. You just need a way to mark them. An ideal way is to borrow a powder scale. Fill a casing to what ever level of powder you will be using. See where the level is and then cut the casing to that level. Take an engraver and mark the casing: X gr of X powder. Then each time you load all you have to do is fill that scoop level. I might have an old Lee powder scale around here that you can have for free. I never use it & it needs a home. Let me look & see if I can find it. If you decide to use this scoop method be a little conservative and give yourself some room for safety.

Wish I could afford to reload my own.... On the contrary, once you get past the initial $100 - $150 investment for hardware you can't afford not to. In answer to your question, at those ranges any non-fmj factory fodder will work. But, as said, if you value the fur don't use grenades.
Rod, too.

Ultramaz with Nosler balistic tips or Hornady with their version. Both 55gr loads shoot extremely well in my 15" Encore and 16" Contender as well as my Min M70 heavy varmint. Even if you drop on the spot, they want go far with a chest shot.
