HOT and HUMID....By 10am it was 90* and 80% humidity. The Jet Stream pulled all the hot air up from the south into north Pennsylvania and Tioga county where I was climbing a ridge looking for a good boar. The FA`s 454 was loaded with Cor-Bons old Penetrator load using a 320gr FMJFP (the new load uses Barnes 325gr Buster bullet) clocked at 1600FPS MV. This ammo shoots flat enough out to 100 that no holdover/under is needed. About 50yds from the top of the ridge we spotted part of a boar that was bedded amoung some blown down trees and looked large enough to be a shooter. Because of the downed trees I needed my shooting sticks upon which I placed my leather sand bag and rested the scoped revolver. At the shot a second boar, which none of us had seen, blew out of the trees and headed uphill while the one I shot was squealing like hell. Two more shoots through the body insured there would be NO chasing this boar in the heat.

James, you got more gumption than I. If 90 and 80 in the AM I am not leaving the AC. Good show ;-)
Rod, too.

James, I think you are the one that folks who have boar hunting questions should turn to. I still want to see what your 38 Super will do on a game animal. Good Job Man!!

Congrats, James!!! I knew you couldn't stand Dur show'n you up! Keep him in his place! Your move, DT. Foldin', holdin', or explodin'??? I laid back this weekend to let James have his...plus you're supposed to respect one's elders. And Mama needed some chores done too
The truth is, if James had hog access like I do, he'd take early retirement! The body count would be staggering - he wouldn't get distracted by deer, doves, ducks, turkeys, offshore fishing, etc. And the hogs would tremble in fear.

Nice work, James! Those non-expanding bullets made some pretty big holes (see what a big meplat can do??)! Nice shooting as always, my friend! The first shot took out one lung and part of the second and a piece of liver. The other two were to make sure he did not run in the heat. You put the bullet where it belongs and you have a dead animal no matter if its lead, copper, bronze or whatever.. .PS put a 22mag FMJ in the ear to stop the movin. I love shootin those pigs. Great therapy....
