Something we need to remember is that not all .44 Special guns are capible of shooting heavy loads. It is very important to know what you have and load it accordingly. My Ruger .44 Sp Bisley will take about any reasonable ammo. My Charters won't or at least not while they are in my hands. My Taurus 441 splits the difference. Fact is even at the Charter level a 240-260 grain cast bullet will cleanly kill deer with proper shot placement.
