Just bought a 15" 460 S&W barrel ported by Bellm. Bought all the reloading gear and now need to get my tail in gear and develop some loads. I will be hunting hogs in February and they are 200-400 pounders. Most of my shooting will be under 100 yards.
Anyone have a good load recommendation?

My best load that shoots sub MOA out of my 14" 460 barrel is 40.4 grains of H110 pushing a 300gr xtp mag.
That ought to fix up any hog!!!

If it doesn't you have bigger problems! Agreed. You almost have enough energy for earth escape velocity with that much powder.

Looking at some 395gr WLNGC cast bullets. That should stop a tank

That 395 grain CorBon load was the only one I tested with meaningful recoil -- LOL!

Yeah I fear its gonna kick like a mule. But thats what Grizzly recommended. Only if you load it hot. That CorBon load was running over 1,500 fps. You don't need to push it too hard for it to work well.

I like the Barnes 200 gr. XPB bullets. My son has an Encore rifle in 460 S & W mag. and he shot a nice boar with it in 2011. Absolutely devestating is all I can say.

I loaded some 275gr XPB's and can't wait to see how they perform on hogs. Also loaded some 225gr XPB's in my 44 mag and plan to test them out as well.

If you aren't happy with them I'm telling ya, you will love the XTP's and XTP mags, they are way under rated and the price is excellent. They are also the most consistently accurate bullet I've found in calibers from .357 to .475

The 300 gr. XTP will handle any boar you come in contact with. The Swift bullets are awsome, but a little expensive.

I also loaded some 300gr XTP's in my 44mag to use on a hog or two. I couldn't find any for the 460 in time. But I will get them soon.
