I have been shooting factory loads in my 7.5" FA .454 Casull and love the gun. Now I'm trying my hand at reloading for it. I've tried a 260 gr FA bullet over 33 gr W296 in starline brass and CCI small rifle mag primers. The other load is a 240 Hornady XTP Mag over 29 gr 4227. My question is; is there a better powder for the Casull? The winchester load seems to burn dirty and the 4227 load seems to have quite a bit of unburned powder left? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. There is a big buck in northern Maine waiting for me and I'd like to take him with a home recipe. Thanks.
