New to the handgun hunting world it has been a dream for a few years since I saw a buddy in college harvest a doe with a TC 223. So I got a Gun smith to build me a glock 20 long slide with a 6.6 inch LWD threaded barrel, adjustable rear sights, hydro hunting pattern camo dip and the best striker fire trigger I've ever felt.
I chose the glock because I am familiar with the guns and I needed something that could take super hot hand loads, get dirty, and be a defensive side arm on the ranch that is has extremely high traffic of illegal aliens. Anyone love the 10mm? Please share your hunting stories with your 10mm and you set up

Might be best to load the pictures to a site such as imageshack or photobucket, then copy the link and paste that in here.
Congrats on the 10mm longslide. I had one a few years back with the 6.6" LW barrel. It shot well. The only 10mm I currently have a Gen4 G20, and it eats my warm handloads just fine.

Glad to see another Glocker here. I am going to carry a G21SF that has been turned into a .460 Rowland quite a bit this year. The gun has accounted for 3 deer so far. As 45BBH said upload your pics to a photo hosting sight like photo bucket or HUNT101 then past the link on you post. If you still have trouble you can email you pic and I will gladly post it for you. reflex264

I have a gen 3 G20 that has killed a few hogs and one deer. It's one of my favorite guns to carry when out in the woods. I personally have had better groups and longer brass life with mild loads in the 1200-1250 fps 180 grain jhp. It likes the hotter loads from Double Tap and Underwood but I haven't been able to match those velocities and maintain accuracy.

10,
Not a big Glock fan, and all camo guns do not do it for me. Your Glock looks very nice. Not sure I have seen a two tone camo gun, but I realy like it. And while the ranch I hang out at is way more sedate than yours, when we're cutting wood, stacking logs or mending fences, it's nice to be able to wear something that could take care of rural business, and not be in the way. I tend to my 45 Super or Rowland, but would probably feel right at home with a 10mm.
Welcome aboard, and we are a semi-auto hunting friendly site ;^)

this is my sw 1006 with adjustable sights. I am shooting double dap (200 or 220gr I forget) lead wfn bullets. They shoot nice and its a nice hefty gun that takes up any recoil. I just got it last year and have yet to shoot a deer but hoping to bloody it this year if the opportunity arises

10mm, That's a fine lookin huntin handgun. Watched that guy on TV with the ponytail take some big Texas boar with is 10mm Glock. Found out that the Dannish soldiers who patrol Greenland for months at time carry a Glock 10 for polar bear problems. http://www.casr.ca/id-arcticviking4sb-1.htm

Lamina,
Not sure whether you ever vist GunBlast, but Jeff Quinn did a couple of reviews of 10mm and ammo, and one of the guns tested was a schmiff. If I remember correctly, he was getting slightly higher velocites with the SW than the others, and had some good things to say. That series of guns seems to have been a little forgotten, except by some folks. I'm thinking your are one of the "some folks" ;^) Nice pea shooter.....

You can buy an aftermarket barrel for the G20 thats 6" long this well help in velocities.
Its a start.
Although I like the 10mm, I'm not a big fan of hunting with it.

10 That is a nice looking g-20. I usually don't like the dipped guns but yours looks really nice. Got me a g-20 with 6" kkm barrel and a vortex razor 3moa reflex. Hope to get either a hog or deer this year. Nice going. I would post a pic but am too low tech to own a camera.

Just watched the Outdoor Channel and the guys name is Razor Dobbs, with the ponytail, and I stand corrected as he uses a Dan Wesson long slide not a Glock, in 10mm. He took a nice large axis buck with a 200gr HP on top of the large boar on his last show using the 10. The 10mm cartridge works just fine for hunting....

Looks to me that gun has Lone a wolf barrel already?
If so that barrel has nice tight chamber and will get the 200 grain bullies just honking along. I have a model 21 with a Lone Wolf. Threaded barrel and upper long slide assembled by yours truly. I added an RMR to the slide and can print really nice groups at 50 yards and hunting size at 75.
Cool gun plenty of punch to dissuade just about anything.
I have some DRT 105 grain bullets loaded to 1800 FPS talk about a wound cavity wow.
You can't fix stupid!

Glock offers a G20 Hunter that comes with a 6" barrel because of barrel length restrictions in some states. reflex264

Yes but I can tell you the after market barrels have much tighter chambers of course that can be a blessing and curse.
The Longslide helps reduce recoil and increase control along with longer sighting plane.
The Glock barrel is lower cost though and good start to that perfect handgun.

Same here on the aftermarket barrels and tight chambers. I have a storm lake that is super accuarate but it requires triming cases to work reliably. That said the supported chamber greatly improves the safety margin with hand loads. reflex264
