I guess this one shoots as well -- at least this load it's really happy with. This is Buffalo Bore's 370 grain LFN load, 5-shots at 50 yards off of the bench. I know this will seem rather unbelievable, but my first cylinder full of the 370 grain BB loads produced this five-shot group. I almost didn't post it...... I started the session with a new cardboard backing so I would know where every shot went. However, the top hole is actually 4-shots -- I pulled the fifth......I know, unbelievable but it actually happened. Scary potential.

Not bad! If you were shoot'n irons; That's outstanding! Either way it's a shoot'r.
Whit, which front sight do you prefer; old or new? Is the new Hawk a 5 or 6 shot?

Began testing some CEB (Cutting Edge Bullets) yesterday, their 280 grain Raptor hollow-points. Did a rough sight-in at 25 yards, and pushed out to 50. Shot one round, brought the target back, adjusted the Ultradot up a hair, and shot the next four rounds. I think this load is a keeper. This was the next group -- same load.

Whit, which front sight do you prefer; old or new? Is the new Hawk a 5 or 6 shot? Actually, it's not that easy to consistently center a circle in a circle which is the case with a red dot. I use a target with a 6-inch black circle which gets pretty small at 50 yards. I can imagine this thing would be hell-on-wheels with the magnification of a scope. For me the front sight is a wash. I know folks seem to be up in arms about the new front sight, but neither are going to win any beauty contests, and they operate the same as far as I am concerned. I prefer the barrel profile more to the old tapered units.

It seems to be happy with what ever you feed it!

Looks like it will more than do the job!!!!! Good to see that they aren't really Unicorns :-)
Wit, a related question. Have you ever used that 370LFN on big critters with the 480? If so what did you think of it? Mind sharing the load? You can PM me if you prefer.

Thanks, Vance!
I have never used that bullet on game. The 370 grain load is actually a factory load by Buffalo Bore. I had one box and decided to give it a try -- glad I did!

Good shooting Whit! Looks like another test gun may need to be "retained" for "long term evaluation"

Thank you! Got out this morning and tested some of the 220 grain CEB Raptors. Very accurate! This five-shot 50 yard group measured 3/4-inch. Wow! Followed up with this one -- pulled one of them:

That barrel crown kinda looks like a BFR, and is it a 5-shot or 6? I heard that they might make the new ones 5-shooters

This .480 just keeps impressing me. Shot this five-shot 50 yard group this morning (yeah, one flier) with CEB 220 grain bullets over Power Pistol.

Max,
You've got me wanting to venture with the Power Pistol. I'm anxious to load some 260gr NP's in 45 colt, using the PP. You're have'n excellent results with it.

Talking to a Ruger rep at a sports show in Anchorage today & he said no projected release date... :-( I will be talking to someone at Ruger on Monday and will ask -- maybe they do have an idea when they will again be available. I wouldn't be surprised if folks at Ruger simply don't know.
