There's a big difference between a blunt tip and a properly sized meplat. The larger the meplat, the larger the wound channel. If the bullet material (cast) bothers you, there are some alternatives "glorified" hardcast bullets (they're not hardcast, but the bullet nose profiles are similar) like CorBon's Penetrators, Punch bullets, Barnes Busters, CEB solids that do what a flat-nosed hardcast bullet is supposed to (deep, straight-line penetration) but are relatively impervious to deformation.
