Has anyone tried the Polycase ammo, which is also distributed by Ruger as their ARX line? I originally thought it was just marketed as "Personal Defense" ammo. But, they also have a hunting round. Not sure if there is really any difference, other than the caliber. Inceptor Preferred Hunting

Those look interesting. I wonder how well it would work in practice?

Cabela's is a dealer for the Ruger ARX ammo. I think I'm going to run over to Waco Saturday and see if they have some of the .45 ACP in stock. I emailed Polycase yesterday to find out if the .45 Long Colt in the Inceptor Preferred Hunting line would be OK to fire in a Vaquero. They advertise it as being designed for Lever Action Rifles.
They advertise a 56 grain bullet at 1350 fps / 640 ft. lbs from a rifle barrel.

The Ruger ARX for the .45 ACP only has a 118 Grain bullet. Sounds whacky Versions Available .45 COLT ARX? UM1? ?25 Cartridges ?56 gr ARX? ?1350 fps / 640 ft. lbs. That's one reason my curiosity has peaked.

A 56 grain bullet at 1350 fps won't yield 640 ft lbs energy. More like 200 - 250. A 156 grain bullet would get you 640ish. Even at that it is a pretty anemic load from a rifle, cowboy level. I suppose they want to keep it shootable in older SA guns and imports.
Rod, too.
