dhom, I wasn't picking on you. I have heard similar sentiments from a truckload of people with very limited hardcast experience (again, not directed at you) with regards to the terminal effectiveness of cast bullets versus expanding jacketed types, either unwilling to acknowledge the vast array of available qualities and designs, or they are simply and willfully ignorant and just lump all bullets without a shiny exterior together as "hardcast." I've seen it all too often. Your post merely triggered a response in me, and it wasn't directed at you.
