It's a bad time of year for hunting, even have to wait until May to shoot a groundhog now. Coyotes are about the only target now and the water is too cold for the fish to bite consistently. The only good thing is that the weather has been nice for target shooting.

Not only was it fast, it was really lackluster in terms of sightings. I only had one decent buck regularly coming up on trail camera, when normally I have two to four. The majority of the bucks I saw was a bunch of yearlings and one 2.5 year old. The perpetually warm weather suppressed a lot of deer movement, and with plenty of green grass around that hadn't been killed by the cold, the deer had little reason to visit my food plots.
That said, I took one of the numerous does for the freezer, so I'm happy enough.

Yes, it's hunting season. Got 19 of these already. This one with my Quiet Gun (Ruger MKIII-suppressed) AND, this .223 Contender, 179 yds. My normal Feb. count is 5. 'Hogs were out early with this crazy, warm weather. Got 15 this year. Welcomed March yesterday with 4.

The last one went too fast. Don't they all! I'll keep shooting, just change targets to steel and swine when possible. Maybe a little warm weather squirrel hunting with the Buckmark.
My filter is broken.

I had intended on a swine hunt in March, but this thing they call knee surgery had to get in the way. I fought through the pain during deer hunts, though it's time to get repaired in preparation for next fall. I'll have about a month to do a lot of loading, so that's good.

Wow. Doc (wvhitman) is already ahead of my entire 2016 groundhog total! My hero! My son and I are sheep hunting at The Wilderness PA on March 17th. It will hopefully be his first handgun big game with his Contender 358JDJ. I plan to be overkilling with the 460S&W. We have no plans for bullet recovery during the autoposies.

Fantastic hog hunting,I don't even see that many a year anymore.since we got coyotes in NW Ohio are ground hogs are few and far between,in my high school days I would kill close to a100 year.

Not only was it fast, it was really lackluster in terms of sightings. Exactly the same here. I got 1 pic with 2 shooter bucks on it in 4 months, and not a one of us saw a decent deer whilst on stand.
