If you're leaning toward a revolver, most consider a revolver a 100 yards and closer hunting weapon. I'm by no means saying it's not capable of further ranges in the right hands and correct bullet. The 45 colt, with proper bullet and load, will shoot length ways through a whitetail at 100 yards.
