My 11 year old son Gus and I have been putting in hours at our hog honey hole with no success. We had 5 skunks in a row, but decided to dedicate some time this evening to see if the hogs were coming out later. We have a nice spot with motion sensor lights and spent the first hour after dark watching a couple raccoons which kept Gus entertained and focused. We heard the first hogs in the woods at about 9:30, but nothing would come to the lights. After hearing the hogs a few more times, Gus was totally focused and ready for action. At 10:05 3 hogs made the lights turn bright and Gus steadied the XP-100R and I watched as he switched the safety off. A few more hogs appeared at the lights which were 120 yards away and I was smiling from ear to ear as I noticed his focus as his finger slowly transitioned from the side of the chassis to the trigger. A couple seconds later the SP sounded and in our low light hide a flash of fire shot from the Specialty Pistol. Gus got a little close to the eye piece and was kissed by the scope just a tad, but he was still focused and immediately said he made a good shot. We gave it a few minutes and then walked to the lights to look for blood. As we got close, I could see a stain of blood on the tree under the lights. The 178gr AMAX from the .308 Win literally exploded blood out the exit wound and covered the tree. A short tracking job by Gus yielded his first boar and first Specialty Pistol kill! I don't know who was more excited, but we both celebrated in the blessing of our hunt together. God is good....

Awesome job! Never thought I'd see an A-Max make an exit wound.

Awesome job! Never thought I'd see an A-Max make an exit wound. I know your probably being facetious, but I've got to brag on these 178gr AMAX at these slower velocities (2,370 fps). This makes kill #7 (2 WT bucks, 3 hogs, 1 javelina, and a fox) this last year with them from the 13" SP's and EVERY one blew thru the animal and either dropped them where they stood or made for a tracking job that looked like blood was being poured from a 5 gallon bucket. Very impressed with them...

That's good stuff! Congrats!
