Deer season starts in 10 days here is SC with plenty of heat, bugs, and snakes. I'll have my Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley hunter ready to go. Shooting a Nikon 2x20 scope and factory Hornady 210 grain XTP's. I should have plenty of hogs thrown in the mix to make it interesting.

Tennessee's muzzleloader season starts November 4th, and I'll be packing a CVA Optima pistol loaded with Blackhorn 209 and 200 grain Barnes XPBs. Two weeks later - on the 18th - during the regular season, my primary handgun will be my 14" S&W Model 460 loaded with 275 grain Barnes XPBs, with a 41 Magnum Blackhawk loaded with 250 Cast Performance WFLGC bullets on my belt. If extenuating circumstances arise and I absolutely need to put a deer on the ground, I'll break out the 300 Win Mag Encore.
Goals for this season in order of preference: 1. Bloody the 460. 2. Bloody the Optima. 3. Bloody the 41. 4. 200+ yard shot with my 300 Encore.

Bow season opens at the beginning of October here and I'll be out there with one of my recurves/longbows. Gun season around the first part of November and I'm committed to my Glock G40 topped with a Venom 3MOA.
Whitetails and turkeys for sure at my hill country lease. But I also usually get an invite or two in south Texas, where hogs become an equally opportunity critter...

I'm headed out on a river, rifle hunt for moose in September. The unit has an open caribou season running concurrently. I hope to find a cow and will be carrying a 401 Herters Powermag with a 240 grain WLN LBT bullet.

I hope to be bear hunting in Maine this September. Haven't decided if I will use my crossbow or my 5" Super Redhawk in 44 mag with a 30mm UltraDot sight.
For deer here in IL I hope to take one with my 44 SRH and one with my Encore with a 9" MGM barrel in 357 mag. For muzzle loader season I will use my Encore 50 caliber and/or my TC 54 caliber Renegade.

For food plots and stands with longer range shot ops ... my Encore.
For thick woods and dense cover with shorter range ... my Super BlackHawk Hunter.

SBH .44 mag for deer this year. In the process of acquiring a SRH in .480 Ruger. If I have that dialed in by November, I'll try that as well.

For me that can change from day to day or even moment to moment depending on my mood. Right now I'm leaning toward my 6" FA 454 Casull but my 15" 375JDJ and Marlin 444S keep calling to me too. I might wind up using a 5" 44 mag BFR, 54 cal Plains Rifle or .62 flintlock. Just depends on what I feel like when I'm heading out.

You've just outed my problem, I need to be a 1 gun guy. I've got 3 Encore barrels, a SRH .454, a Glock 21 that I'll run 230gr solids around 1000fps and I usually don't know until the last minute what I'll carry. It all depends on where I'm hunting. And how I feel. And what I'm really wanting to take an animal with.....
My filter is broken.

I'll be using the SRH 454 this year, as well as the 41 magnum and 357 max ( if I work up a load for it).
I'll have to try out my new 375 Ruger as well.
I'm hoping to put several deer on the ground this year with any luck.

I'll have to try out my new 375 Ruger as well.
I used mine on deer several years ago with the Hornady 300gr DGX bullet. Rather effective on deer. Now, I handload Hornady 270gr SpirePoint bullets. But, have not used them on game yet.

I love the 375 Ruger. A nice blend of power and recoil. I'm using factory 270 and 250's. I'll probably stick with the 270's after I set my reloading bench back up.

Starting the season with my trusty Hoyt. But 5 or 6 weeks later when they let the guns start blasting I am excited too say that I be out there with SBH bisley hunter in 44 mag. My first time to really hunt with a firearm in almost 20 years.

Come Oct. 7th, the longbow and the Excalibur will be in play.
On Nov. 18th, it's gonna be me and Goldiloks. I have been practicing each week with her, and I fear for the deer! People love Virginia for the beautiful four seasons here, but for me, there are only two seasons; Deer Season, and Getting Ready for Deer Season!

Where shots are closer, my Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in 45 colt. Running 250gr XTP at 1400fps. It has a Nikon 2x on top and is extremely accurate. When I hunt where shots are longer it will be my Winchester Extreme Weather M70 in 7wsm.

We added some elevated blinded this year. With a mixed view over woods and fields. I'll have the 45-70 in my lap for brushy woods shots and the 30-30 on the floor for longer shots. Gives me an excuse to practice a Bunch with both guns.

I will be choosing between 3 this season. Optima V2 with 2-7 Burris Plex. Contender in 357 Maximum with 30mm MatchDot SRH in 480 Ruger with 30mm UltraDot
So many choices, and so few tags. Also freezer space comes into play.

Well this June I had changed jobs. I used to have a lot of time to hunt after work but now it will be limited to gun hunting on Saturdays and federal holidays. I will be able to bowhunt on Sundays. Also I will not be able to take any time off until January or so.
Ain't it fun living in Connecticut?
Anyways. The plan is that on September 5th to the 23rd, Massachusetts black bear season will be open. You can use revolvers for the September portion of the season.
So the plan is when I have time, to do some electronic calling of black bear with my Gary Reeder refurbished Ruger Redhawk Hunter in 44 magnum. Hopefully I will see a nice black bear through the Burris 2x scope and send a 240 grain XTP in the right spot.
All of my deer hunting this year, due to the laws, will be archery in Connecticut as well as archery, shotgun and muzzleloader in nearby Massachusetts.

The .44 Redhawk and the .357 GP-100. Picked up a crossbow for the archery season and a new Mossberg Patriot .308, will work them all in somewhere.

I'll be hunting archery season with my bow, providing I can get some relief from this "golfers elbow" (I don't golf - go figure...).
During ML season, I'll likely hunt with my bow, as I'm not currently setup for ML'ing. Hope to rectify that soon with a ML handgun setup (likely an Encore; wishfully wanting a smokeless XP-100 ML ie - Arrowhead Sporting Goods).
During regular gun season, I'll be packing my Ruger 454 Casull SBH as well as my XP-100 7 RSAUM. (had originally planned to use my 6.5 Grendel AR I just put together, but going to let my son use it since it's a rifle and I want to get back to my handguns; besides, he likes AR's).
I've yet to kill a deer with a revolver, so that's kinda my primary goal this year during gun season.
Regards, Rog

Well, I have 3 months to go and unless I get some projects completed between now and then it will be my scoped Bisley in 45 Colt and Contender in 7/30. Might bring along the GeeP in 357 just for kicks as there are a couple of stands in the woods that are close shots and it is a nice compact carry with the rear peep and fiber optic front sights.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Hoyt bow then CVA Optima V2 muzzle loader pistol then S&W 460xvr. I was blessed enough last year to take a deer with each of them I hope I'm able to repeat this year. I also picked up a .35 rem. That I'll take some times to try and get one with it.

My 357 load is a 158 XTP in front of a heavy dose of H110. I shoot a 250 in the Bis and a 120 BT in the Waters for field edges.
Rod, too.

Weird to be planning for hunting season when it's 103 degrees outside.
First on my hit parade this year will be the Henry 45-70, followed by the SRH .454 and CVA .243.
Then it will be just whatever I fell like schlepping into the woods that weekend.

Texas next month and most like bring my two 475`s: 10" FA`s with scope and five shot custom Bisley....Would love to get back up to Maine this winter with the 10" FA`s 41mag and hopefully the DW 32 mag with the 6" or 8" barrel. And God only knows what if I go for a boar......
