And when you handload the lighter bullets you really lose velocity .

I found this round as well as the 300 win mag in pistol length barrels you reach a point where you start blowing powder out the end of the barrel and you stop adding velocity . Thats why ( in my oppinion )the 7mm08 can equal the 7mm mag in a 16" gun , the same is true with the 300 win mag and the 308.
