Going to use it specifically for Wild boar.So power is of importance. Looking for a muzzleloading handgun easy to load and easy maintenance. Any ideas would be great.

You need to decide weather you want to go modern or trodishinal. Either would be sufficient. However, the modern black powder, like the TC Encore, are more powerful. If you go trodishinal, shoot a big caliber. I would say 54 or larger. From my understanding, the TC 50 pistol can shoot 100 of FF. But there are others on the form that are more knowable than I with the newer black powder.

I don't know what price range your looking in but this is one I've thought about from Clements custom guns.
.50 Cal. Ruger Old Army: This is a 5-shot conversion of the Old Army to .50 cali. Gun will shoot .490" round balls @ 1250 fps and a .488" dia. bullet @ 1150 fps using Hodgdon's Triple 7 powder. Standard features include an oversize 5 shot cyl. made to fit your individual gun, 6 3/4" full octagon barrel with integral front sight base and dovetailed sight blade, action job, and reliability modifications. We pioneered this conversion and it is only available from us. Accuracy will put some centerfire guns to shame. Bullets are available from Mt. Baldy Bullets. Stainless guns only. $995 or $1400 on our gun.

If you are interested in a traditional handgun, Restoration Firearms offers one with more than enough power. A .54 caliber 540 gr bullet at 1071 fps should do the job! Scroll down the page to the "Worlds Most Powerful Pistol?". I have been wanting one of these for a while, but Colorado does not allow hunting with muzzleloading handguns so I'm not in a rush. http://restorationfirearms.com/OnlineCatalog.html

For power you can't beat the T/C. Loads of 200 grains of Pyrodex are no problem if you can hang on to it. For ease of maintenance get a .25 ACP breech plug, it virtually eliminates any blowback into the frame. I have the link to that company around somewhere. Check regs on ML revolvers, in MN we can use a ML handgun but not a revolver, go figger. Also no optics on ML's either here, bummer. I will be getting an Encore ML pistol soon, for the only reason I can see to get an Encore. FWIW, Rod.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I wonder if you can get a rubber type grip for the 54 cal Restoration Firearms pistol? If it has that much power that smooth rounded hogleg would be hard to hold on to.

Hey Tigger, I was thinking the same thing. But the pistol does look like to have some serious power though.
