I plan on laying prone at the top of the drive and popping at least one tire before they get to the bottom of the hill...about 500yds. I always one to make a great first impression.

They tell me you can get one of the HSP's in about 6 months but I still would figure on 12 months. all mine have taken at least a year to get,

I tried using the search to answer this but didn't getting anything to come up. I was wondering and this in no way making a statement about getting one anytime soon. But what is the best single shot to start with? If I was thinking of getting one I would think T/C because of the being able to change calibers so easy and just having to buy barrels. What's the scoop guys?

I like the TC’s, but I also grew up on them. I also like the Contender/G2 better than the Encore. The Encore weighs a little more and I don’t think it handles as well. But if you are going to be shooting long range, the Encore is diffidently the way to go. If you go the used wrought you will not go wrong. Half of my TC’s were used. Ironically, half of those have been replaced by the factory for new ones. I bought a Encore 270 with a 3-9 Burris with a PA for $550.

If you are considering LR shooting or hunting then I would go with a bolt rig or a MOA

I was thinking Jack Rabbits, Prong Horn, and Mule Deer and several hundred yards. The laws say .22 caliber(Center Fire) is the smallest for the Prong and deer. But I don't know if I would feel good about a .22 for Mule deer. They are a good sized animal. .22 cal. is fine for the other 2. So maybe I stick with the .44 hunter and just get closer for the Mule deer and then a .22 cal. for the others. One caliber for all three would be nice but I want cheap for the jacks. Once again is boils down to to many choices and not enough money.

A 6mm or 25 cal would do great on mulies and antelope and still give good performance on smaller game.

LR and hunting, the bolt guns are hard to beat in accuracy. 6mm would fill the bill for jacks up to mule deer.

Being that I've never reloaded for those Cal. before what bullets would be a good start?

In the 6mm the 75gr V-Max would be killer on jacks. For deer the 90-100gr pills would do the trick well.

Rupe, for the 25-06 I load 115 Noslers. They do quite a number on game.
