22 Hornet and 7-30 Waters. Next would be the 375 win or 44 mag. I just like the classics.

7-30 Waters, I'm just getting back into it and my only other barrel at the moment is a 6tcu but I haven't shot it yet but in the past I've owned a few including, factory 375JDJ, SSK 309JDJ, SSK 22 Hornet, SSK 45-70, factory 45-70, 30-30, 22 Match, and 17 HMR.

My favorite is the one I haven't got or had yet. Right now that would be the .375 Winny. I still have a .22 Mag, .22 Match, 22 Hornet, 7-30 Waters, .357 Max, and 45/70. Nothing against any of them, just not my favorite ;-)
Rod, too.

hunlee, I'll play the game but it has to be an Encore barrel as I don't own a Contender.....yet.
Hands down my OTT 218 BEE barrel. Just plain fun to shoot and very accurate.

I list the 7-30 because of the of loads and bullets to work with and barrel isn't hard to obtain and you can use it as a long range coyote gun, works great for deer and antelope and in a pinch with a 150-160gr nosler accubond I'd shoot an elk or bear out to 100 yds as long as I had a good rest with a stationary critter. I'm actuall looking at the 375 and 338JDJ #2 as well as the 338GNR and 350GNR for a dedicated bear and elk cartridge. I carry some 160gr Accubonds loaded up just in case I run into a larger critter, for deer huntig where I use the 120gr Nosler Ballistic tip it is a very accurate load and I would consider a shot on a bear depending range, angle of animal and size of animal, a younger bear 200lbs or less I wouldn't worry to much but on a bigger one I'd pick my shot which would probably be a neck shot if possible. The other plus to it is no real recoil, it's very easy to stay on target with, mine has a brake which I didn't know if I'd like but with my screwed up wrists it's like shooting my 32H&R revolver. Just my opinion

Its hard to narrow it down to one barrel. 7-30 Waters is my favorite "big game" Contender barrel. I have a lot of fun shooting my .22lr barrel though. My .44 mag and .45-70 tie for 3rd place.

My favorite Contender barrel is a 14" SSK 338 JDJ #2 Barrel #2 with a SSK Arrestor. I used to have a 14 309JDJ I bought back in 1987 but sold it to a co worker when I got the 338.

I would have to say my favorite is probably the one I shoot the most rounds through per year. For me that would be my SST Super 14 .22 LR Match hands down. This barrel wears a 3x12x Burris LER Handgun Scope and is scary accurate. I just acquired a SST T/C Contender Frame with Herrett Walnut Finger Groove / Thumbrest Grip and a Walnut Super 16 Forend (that I modified to fit the Super 14 Barrel). This new to me frame will be dedicated to use with this SST Super 14 .22 LR Match Contender Barrel.
If I got to pick a second choice it would probably be my SST Super 14 .223 Remington Contender Barrel (that also wears a 3x12x Burris LER Handgun Scope). This barrel resides on a SST G2 Contender Frame with the Factory Rubber Grip and Forend. I have only ever tried one load in this Barrel, and it shoots it so good I never looked any farther. When I picked up this barrel I had just sold a DPMS Panther Bull 20 Fluted AR-15, and had over 800 rounds of 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips loaded with H-4895 that was the perferred load for the AR. Well after shooting this load in the SST Super 14 .223 Remington Contender and it averaged 1/2" groups at 100 yards from the bench I decided I didn't need to waiste my time trying to find a better load.
Those are the barrels I shoot the most and are indeed favorites.

My favorite would have to be 6.5 JDJ 14 inch. Both accurate and pleasant to shoot.
Enjoy life but, remember we are only practicing for something better.

My choice would be a 14" 22lr g2/contender. I havent shoot it yet but I like the cost of the ammo. Hoping to get more range time with this setup and improve my long distance shooting. Bill

Without a doubt my favorite is my SSK 309 JDJ. It's relatively easy on the shooter and very accurate. Mine is Mag-na-ported.

Man, what a choice. I guess the one that is getting the most action right now is the SSK 14" 6.5JDJ. The other is the SSK 338JDJ#2.

Gary, how does the SSK 309 JDJ compair to a 308 Win.? If you are interested in the performance of the 309JDJ, here is an article by Doc Rogers on several different rounds and their performance on game. I think this is the same article that was in the Sixgunner in 2000. Just scroll down to the "single shot" section for the 309JDJ info. http://www.leverguns.com/articles/doc_rodgers__the_hitman.htm

It is which ever one I have on at the time!! My problem is I have 5 frames and 19 barrels for Contenders alone. Top down, 223 (3 barrels),6.5JDJ, 7x30, 30 Herrett(2 barrels) and 357 herrett,375JDJ, 44 Mag and 45-70. I also like the 22LR (2 barrels), 22 Hornet, 222 Rem (2 barrels), and now the Encore......

Someday Hunlee learn that it is better to have new barrels for the contender then all the females in the world! The barrels cost a lot less in the long run and they don't say NO! LOL
