I'm not familiar with the 7-08 but with any bullet if you want less damage your going to want something that will hold together. The bullet your talking about will probably expand and break apart quickly either giving inadequate penetration or excessive meat damage. The impact velocity is going to be the key factor, if it is high enough your going to want something like the partition, if its going to be under 2500fps then you will want to go to something like the accubond, interbond or ballistic tip and I would say with the 7-08 I'd go with a 140gr, I use the 120gr bt in my 7-30 but my 7rem rifle I had to switch to partitions because I was ending up with exit holes the size of softballs with the ballistic tips.
