This is exactly why I don't support relocating problem bears to back country areas. All that does is put a bear that has no fear of people (and often associates people with food) right in the lap of any backpackers and hunters it comes across. Granted the same situation could occur with a bear thats never had contact with people. IMO relocating problem bears is just an accident waiting to happen. I'm happy this turned out as well as it did. Have to give the father credit for making a tough shot when it really counted. http://www.codyenterprise.com/articles/2008/09/17/news/news1.txt

Unfortunately in Wyoming you may not carry a firearms while bowhunting. Suppose this is to keep those predisposed to dishonesty honest. They sure could have used one in this case but I am glad it turned out well.

They sure could have used one in this case but I am glad it turned out well. This has changed recently and you may now carry a handgun while archery hunting in Wyoming. Here is a link to their FAQ page with that Q&A. http://gf.state.wy.us/support/faq/index.asp?faqid=1#15

This is welcome news. I was not aware of this as it had been the other way for so long. Thanks.

it used to be in Oregon you couldn't carry a firearm but they finally figured out that fish and wildlife had no say when it comes to the second amendment and that while they can say what you can hunt with they can't say what you can carry.

I carried the page of the “MWA” Public Hunting book with me that stated that I could carry my Concealed Handgun while hunting. A Game Warden actually was going to write me a ticket until I showed it to him.
It is unfortunate, but sometimes we are more informed about the laws than the people who enforce them. Point in fact, to get your CHL in Texas you have to go threw an all day class. Law enforcement personnel go threw a 1 – 2 hour briefing!?!

I'm impressed with alot of states that do not allow handguns to be carried for self defense while hunting. In Florida you can carry a handgun only if you have a concealed weapons permit. Its a step in the right direction, but we don't have large bears to contend with either. The most common is running into a hog, gator or a person looking for trouble. Most of the time while bow hunting I carry my kel-tec p11 in 9mm. But after a few run in's with some good size pigs I started packing in my .357 taurus with a 6" barrel. Its more wieght but I deffinetly feel better with it than with my 9mm.
Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut.
