If you had to pick only one game animal to hunt the rest of your life what would it be?
For me it's the woodchuck-groundhog. We have them all over the place, so they are a target of oppertunity. There is no season so it's posible to hunt them almost year round. They can be a wise critter at times. I would imagine if I lived out west the prairie dog would be tops.
SO what is that animal that really trips your trigger?

Whitetail. It's the only one I hunt now so I'd keep the faith. Second would be grouse but I just don't have the time to hunt much these days. Talk to me a year from now and that may change ;-)
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Canada goose-I miss being able to go goose hunting every day after work back in Minnesota. The goose hunting in NC isn't like it was back home...
Second choice would go to the lowly crow as just about every state has a long if not year round season and they're great targets for rifles, handguns, or shotguns.

For me it would have to be COYOTES. The more I hunt Coyotes and the more I learn about Coyotes the more I realize I don't know much about them at all. Coyotes can be caggier than another other critter on the face of the earth but at other times they can be so dumb it is unbelievable.
Yes I enjoy Pheasant Hunting, Deer Hunting and Shooting Varmints but Coyotes are what gets my blood boiling.

Why, Elk of course. If location and time afield per year were taken in to consideration, I would opt for whitetails.

this is a tough one because elk and bear are a real close second to mulies but with my busted up body the mulie hunting is easier for me in the area I hunt them.

Tig, I hope I never have to choose just one game animal but, if I did, it would have to be the Wild Turkey...it really stirs my blood.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

I have too much fun hunting different game animals ... I love turkeys in the spring, ducks and geese and whitetails in the fall, squirels and rabbits in the winter, and there are a lot of other things that I haven't had the opportunity to try yet like wild pigs, elk, mulies, pronghorn, mountain goats, ect ... but, since you said "if you could only hunt one" I guess whitetails with the pistol is what I wait for all year long!

I'd take whitetails based on where I live now. However, if I lived close enough to them to hunt them regularly, I'd choose moose.
I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a handgun today.

I hear you Wapitirod, it's going to be hard to hunt them when you can walk into the woods to hunt them anymore. We need Elephants to ride on like they did over in Asia to hunt Tigers.

Grouse. A good Brittany & my 16ga SXS. Big game is great but bag limits & opportunities are much less. I'd probably cry every time I saw somthing I could take w/my 454 or 45 Colt though. Of course I'd still carry them. I like the creak of the gun leather!

For sure whitetail deer. I think. But I do spend more time in the woods after squirrel with a tender 22. Maybe it's squirrel. But I love to go after whitetails. It's too hard to decide.

Hard to pass up pork, but since we don't have pigs in my area, I guess I'll have to go with whitetails. I can turn them into some tasty sausage too!

The comments on small game hunting have me thinking about changing my elk vote. I would have a hard time deciding between grouse, rabbits and squirrels though.
