I guess this is a way for us to get to know a little more about what each of us has had a chance to do in our hunting careers, list whatever animals you've taken whether with a handgun, long gun, bow, or primitive weapons (knives, spears, etc)
big game
pronghorn antelope Blacktail deer Mule Deer Rocky mtn Elk Roosevelt elk Cascade elk (rocky mtn/roosevelt hybrid) Black Bear feral hog aisian water buff (high fence)
small game
squirrel Rabbit game birds
ruffed and blue grouse pheasant quail duck various types
misc. skunk rockchuck badger coyote porcupine lots and lots of rattlers, one of my favorite things to hunt.

I believe that's it.And in case you are wondering yes I ate parts or all of each. That was my fathers first lesson,Ifn you ain't gonna eat it,don't shoot it. I remember when I was about 7 or 8 or so, skinning, cleaning, cooking and eating my first chipmunk with my Dad right by side. It was a little while before I shot another chipmunk, and let me tell you, from then on I certainly thought about what something was going to taste/smell like before I killed it. I'm still a youngin compared to most or all of you fellas so my game bag has yet to be stuffed like yours. Plus I have never hunted outside the confines of NY (I have big plans though). I've taken several whitetail and one black bear for big game and with the exception of snapping turtle (truck was not a listed weapon in Rod's post), every legal small game species in NY, including carp with a bow.
If God didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat.

I forgot I too shot a skunk and opossum, I'd really like to forget the skunk completely though, it was kind of a bad situation.

I accidentally walked up on a skunk one time. It was in some tall grass rooting around. I got about 8ft. from it and about sheet my pants! I high tailed it out of there.

this one was too close to the house and my father in law was having problems with them so I popped it in the head from about 20ft. I had always heard if you did that they wouldn't release their scent which was true at first so I just put him in a plastic garbage bag and headed to the woods to dump him. When I got out of my truck the stink from the bed about knocked me over and it took a couple weeks and several trips to the carwash before it went away. Of course the look on the carwash attendants face the first time I pulled up was priceless

Now "this" could be a fun post Rod.
Big Game: Whitetail Deer Black bear Moose
Small Game: Squirrel (red and gray) Rabbit (incl. Hares) Woodchuck Raccoon Oppossum
Birds: Turkey Pheasant Partridge (Ruffed Grouse) Woodcock Snipe (incl. Rails) Crow
Misc.: Coyote Fox Skunk Porcupine
From my early teens to early 20's I was a trapper: Beaver Muskrat Mink Fisher And an overly curious, very young housecat that just barely caught a couple of toes in a small leghold I had set for an elusive and pesky chuck. No one claimed it and I felt so bad that I nursed his broken toes, named him "Owchie" and kept him. Never did get that chuck! Renster

I'm glad you guys are liking this and the caliber one, I figure after a few days if I get motivated enough I want to break it down to the most common animals and calibers and I'm already seeing trends some I expected but some I didn't. I thought you guys might be curious as I am with some of this stuff.

Rod, their names are Charlene, Darlene, Linda, Rachel and Wendi.....they are all animals and I have taken each and every one of them!! There was also this time in Colorado when after a very poor 3-day diet, I woke up to some steamy oatmeal and very balck coffee. When I smelled the coffee and stirred the oatmeal the moment 'took me' as I barely made it to the latrine.....Elk, deer, pig, chucks, tree rats, bunnies, muskrats, paper, steel, card board, 56 Ford with engine block, cinder blocks, rail road ties, and 1 stinky fox. Most everyone who hunts states 'happiness is a warm gut pile' I second that.

I'd love to get over there too. Until then, I'll have to experience it through videos and writers like Capstick. This video has some amazing footage. There are some very close calls at 4:03, 6:15, 6:50 and 7:10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48edGYUyIQQ&feature=relatedMore africa footage. The guy at 1:11 has some serious nerve! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVWBRxk_2eI&feature=relatedBTW, sorry, I'm getting a little off topic!

Hey TCman, any of those turtles running shots? I've seen full on charges like the hippos and cape buffs in the safari videos I posted! The only difference is you have time to reload a single shot 9 or 10 times before you're in serious danger. At that point you only have time for another half dozen shots to finish the job, so make them count!
