A couple weekends ago, I was up Grice's in Clearfield PA. I saw a single action revolver that had a tag stating it was 325 WSM. It looked like it had an 8 inch barrel. At the time, I thought it was a Magnum Research BFR. After consulting their website, they don't advertise the BFR in this configuration.
I know it could have been mislabeled. Has anyone heard of a configuration like this ?

I haven't heard of it but it would be possible to convert a long cylinder BFR but I think it would be more trouble than it's worth.

I highly doubt they had it labeled correctly (or doubt the sanity of the person that had the cylinder cut for it) as the back pressure causes the cases to set back and bind the cylinder, or worse. I know they were/are chambering them in some of the lower pressure bottle neck rounds like 30-30 and I heard possibly .375 JDJ, but nothing bottle neck with higher pressure than a contender. http://www.magnumresearch.com/bfr_precision.aspThe website mentions some of the non-standard calibers their Precision Center will cut, but none of the bottle necks are listed???

I called Grice's to inquire about this mystery revolver. They could not tell me anything. An email from Magnum Research confirms they never made the BFR in 325 WSM. I know what I saw though.
I was only there to get a 30-06 Encore Pistol barrel.

Is anyone making a single action in 327 Federal Magnum? If so, whoever put the tag on the gun may have had the other round on his mind when he labeled it.

Freedom makes a 327 in their M97 frame.
It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

USFA now advertises a 327 Fed. in a handsome ADJUSTABLE sighted revolver. Looks like it might be a hunter! Expensive, though.

I have a 325 WSM in a HSPrecision 2000P handgun, with the brake it is very manageable. Ii have not heard of a revolver in that caliber. I would think it would be an unsafe proposition in a cylinder gun due to the pressures. nmhunter

Nmhunter, is that a rifle scope on that machine? If so, how do you keep it out of your eye?

Nmhunter, is that a rifle scope on that machine? If so, how do you keep it out of your eye? Yes. Good muzzle brakes!! I used a NF on my antelope hunt and the X was chambered in 7mm WSM. A good brake and backing off from a full FOV will keep your complexion safe!!

Yep, it is a Leupold Mark 4, 4.5x14. I am able to get a full field of view up to 8x. the rest of the power I get about a half field of view. The muzzle brake from HSP does a very good job of keeping the recoil down. I am shooting full house loads with 180gr BT's @2700-2720 fps. Accuracy is excellent at around one half " for three shots. this is my go to elk gun. ( hope to blood it this next year here in AZ if I get drawn) nmhunter

Knowing what a .325 WSM is now, I know it would not qualify as a revolver caliber easily. I still know what I saw, and I wish I would have got to the bottom of the mislabled revolver in the display case that day.
Knowing that a 600 Nitro Express can be made into a revolver, I know that 325 WSM revolver could be made. It is definitely something that could be done; it just would not be a practical revolver.

The 600 NE revolver costs about $20,000 and weighs about 15 lbs (?) as I recall. Hardly in the BFR category.

If T/C will not chamber the WSM series in the Encore because of pressure considerations, imaging the size of a cylinder designed to hold five 325 WSM rounds (5 enncore chambers worth). As stated before, not happening.

Weather or not that this revolver exists, or could be built to exist. Its way beyond my limitations, firing a 180 grain bullet at 2700 fps!!! in a handgun, is to much for me.

You need to try that in a single shot w/ a proper brake.....it's a pussycat. My 7mmWSM XP shoots a 162gr at 2800+ and recoils like a .38 Special. And my .338JDJ#2 Contender shoots a 180NBT at 2500+ w/ no brake...it's easy to shoot.

Your LE is a lot lighter than the XP I spoke of. What brake do you have? My 7mm Dakota and my soon to be 338 Lapua Improved will use powder amounts from 75-100 grains of powder with bullets from 180-300 grains. Again, weight and the best brakes made are being utilized. Yes, I use riflescopes on these SP's

H-S pistols are basically a customized XP-Nice rigs. IF the LEr scopes irritate you because of small FOV and critical eye relief a rifle scope may be in your future. Why you would use a riflescope for those distances would be purely personal preference.

I still cant belive Im even thinking this. OH YES, the hook is set, now just real him in!!! LOL<LOL
I have a 20X rifle scope on a 243 Striker. It works great for the small woodchucks out to 200+ yards. When I deer hunt I turn the scope down to about 8~10 power for out to 200 yards. If I need more power I can turn it up.

Hope you got a good deal on it. I do not think that the H-S brake is nearly the brake that the Holland Radial is. It does not have nearly the surface area of Holland's IMO. A good brake makes all the difference. Also, once you get the scope on there, you will be adding weight, therefore less perceived recoil. If you have more questions, give me call 307-257-7431 E

You can send it to Hollands or you can have a competent smith install it locally if you have one. I use two rings on all of mine, and I typically use a picatinny rail for the base (Weaver style). Talk to Darrel and he will set you up. Make sure to get the Radial brake and not the original quick discharge. Holland's 541.439.5155
