Ruger started a new program, called "TELL THE CEO". I beg everyone who reads this thread to use it to request a 480 Blackhawk Bisley 5 shot. Please take a minute to hound the CEO into msking our dream come true. There is a link at the bottom of what I wrote. If you dont want to spend alot of time please, just respond by telling them 480 Blackhawk. All your help would be great! Start threads on other websites you use to. Thanks, Dan Dear Sir, PLease consider releasing your fine 480 ruger in a 5 shot Bisley model. I've been a fan & proud owner of your SBH line for 20 year now. Your SRH in 480 Ruger is a fine firearm, but the big bore Bisley is a hunters dream. Theres a new movement in the revolver world fueled by customizers of single action handguns like Bowen, Linebaugh, & others. The average man would love to own one of these 5 shot big bores, but with pricing over $2000. for most it's an unobtainable dream. I've been hearing alot of the same on various Hunting forums... begging for a 480 Blackhawk with Bisley grip, and a 5-shot cylinder. So sir, I plan to urge others to take advantage of this well thought out program (Tell The CEO), ... and do just that. Let see if anyone is really listening to what there consumers (and fans) really want. Thank you for your time. Daniel Grabowski, Lambertville, mi http://ruger.com/resources/tellTheCEO.html

I would be in favor of a 5 shot Bisley in 475 Linebaugh. With the 475 one could still shoot the 480 but not the other way around. I have owned a 475 since 88 and see no real reason for the "special" version of the 475

A 5 shot 480 Bisley is a great idea, I've just had one built by Alan Harton, just haven't seen it in the mail yet. Many thought there wasn't any demand for a 44 special, well, they can't make them fast enough! Its now a catalog item. A 5 shot 480 will handle anything on the planet.....anything! more horsepower like the 475 is just more recoil & recoil kills accuracy for most shooters, really, if an extra 100-150 per second is needed, perhaps a handgun isn't the answer. I used a 475 FA in Africa, I know what they can do, a 5 shot 480 would be terrific!

I am a big fan of the .480, but must onfess I'm a bigger fan of the .475 Linebaugh. I too would prefer it in .475......

That link has been up for a while, I asked for a 5-hole Bisley 480R last summer. A lot of guys were asking for a SA in 327 Fed last year and VOILA, there it is. It can't hurt to keep asking.
Rod, too.

The Linebaugh is a great round, however Ruger spent alot of $ to buy the rights to the 480 Ruger, so I think the 480 Ruger 5-shot Bisley might have a better chace of becoming a poduction gun. We are talking a $599. Ruger (mcDonalds) not an $1800 Freedom Arms (Burger King- "your way,... right away). I think If we ALL PULL TOGETHER, and SEND A QUICK TEXT to link on my original post, we might be able to make this happen. Thanks guy,... Dan

It's the squeeky wheel that gets greased. Jeff over at Gunblast has been urging people on his site to call their service number and demand the 480 Ruger in a blackhawk too. Im gonna shoot him a text, see if we can all pull together and bombard their email for the next month a see what happens. Ruges made low production runs before (200-300. Maybe Davidson's could do a special order like their .41 Rem. Hunter model.

As I posted on Bragging Board: http://www.handgunhunt.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2440&cat=500"I would love to have one." Second Choice would be a Factory (McDonald's) in .480. I'm with Whitworth: "I too would prefer it in .475......" ALSO I agree with sixshot: "A 5 shot 480 will handle anything on the planet....." But I would like both options. Why Not! I guess I could always use my drill press on a .480.... LOLOL! JUST KIDDING!!!!
However, I also agree that Ruger is more likely to bring it out in a .480 so that is what I will write them.
Thanks for posting, 240gr&up.

Here is my letter to the CEO, key points: 1. I buy actually do large bore revolvers, 2. I want more, 3. I like my Ruger SBH, 4. Magnum Research is already making a similar product and I'm willing spend the additional $ since Ruger isn't giving me an option.
I would love to see the Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter be made available in more calibers and barrel lengths. I own a 44 mag and while I love the looks and accuracy, I find the 7.5 inch barrel to be too long to balance well in my hands. I also don't really see a lot of velocity difference between that pistol and my 4" 44 Mag. I would love to see a Ruger SBH in 480 Ruger or, even better, 475 Linebaugh. The current offering from Ruger in 480 is less than stellar in the looks department and has me thinking of a Magnum Research BFR 475 Linebaugh instead.
Sincerely, bnw

Well I posted there, but I simply asked for the 480 in any & all versions possible. Bring back the SRH, put it in s Hunter, & yeah a BH would be nice too.

As long as they put a Bisley grip and 5 shot cyl, I would be extreamly happy with a hunter model blackhawk. Thanks for taking the time to express your requests to Ruger. Dan

I'll send them a message too, but I don't want a Bisley model. A standard BH or SBH grip works better for me.

I, too, am a fan of the .475 Linebaugh, owning 3 of them. But the .480 Ruger 5 shot Bisley is a superb idea, and I'd love to have one or more. I'd suggest the 5 1/2" barrel, and stainless.

Hi, first post here... I just sent a request for a .480 Blackhawk set up to mount one of the new generation of small Red Dot sights so that the gun could be carried comfortable in a hip holster similar to the one Freedom Arms is now offering.

I was thinking... alot of us have a Super Redhawk, but how many people own more than 1 at a time? Again, I think with BH's & SBH's being cheaper, with more aftermarket parts & gunsmithing options available, not to mention shorter barrel lengths, and lack of ugly scope mounts, for those of us who don't intend on scoping every handgun we buy, ... I just think Ruger should have released it in a single action right from the get go!

IMHO 2 things killed the 480 & had nothing to do with the great capabilities of the round. 1. Offering in the SRH only, as many if not most people who like this type round also like Single Actions. 2. Offering a load that was basically an enlarged 44mag 240gr XTP load for Deer & such & not also offering a heavy bullet load.
I will send an e-mail. I like the idea of a 475L, but there may be production issues I am not aware of. I don't see a problem in asking for a 475, but would be more than happy with the 480 & you would buy either one.
You will not make peace with the Bluecoats, you are free to go.

The 480 in the Hunter would be a big hit with hunters , You would assume that Ruger has been planning on this because it makes so much sense. I've made my comments to the CEO several times. I would buy one without a doubt.

I'll do my part as well. I have little faith in Ruger though. Look how long it took to make a 44 Spec! I'm not a big fan but that round has a serious followong & it took 50+ years. The 1st Hunter model. 2 years & stopped. 45 Colt hunter a couple hundred, stopped. 41 Hunter, a couple hundred & stopped. Not to mention all those SS Bisleys that were special runs also. I don't think it'll happen. I've sent them similar e-mails in the past. Ruger is dense when it comes to their single actions.

Talked to Reeder and he said the Hunter barrel forcing cone would end up to thin if rebored for 475. So I think Ruger would have to design new thicker hunter barrel.Might be why re don't see a 480 hunter.Bowen also said the same thing about the barrel.

X4 I'd probably still prefer my 480 SRH for a hunting gun, but that would be thr perfect belt gun for everyday carry.

BUT, the little blackhawk is sure a nice light revolver for when I want to forget it's there unless I need it.
