Well I just bought a 5.5 inch stainless Super Blackhawk and am really exited about it. It is in 99% condition and should arrive in about a week. Hope to blood it on some whitetails this season. Anyway, it has houge grips on it that I will probly use for hunting, but are ugly as sin. I was looking for opinions on different grip options(pics would be great to!)that fit like the stock grips to give it more of a cowboy look. I do like the stock rosewood grips, and they are $35 on Midway, but I thought since I am buying grips anyway mabey go to some custom ones. What do you think.
Thanks Chris

I understand your comment about the appearance ---- however, keep the houges around, you may decide you like them. Particularly useful to some shooters to avoid getting the knuckle whacked by the SBH trigger guard.
It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

I prefer the houges over factory or pachmayrs. I bought a ruger sbh 7.5 44mag. recently and it had pachmayr presentation grips on it and I didnt care for them as well as the houges, so I put a set of houges on it. I like the grip I get with the finger grooves on them.

I do plan on using the Houges for hunting, and shooting the big boomers, but the stock type grips make it look sooo cool that I would like a set of those also. I had a set of Houges, and stock grips for my old Redhawk, and found that the Houges gave me a much better grip on the gun while hunting with gloves on. The smooth wood of the stock grips was fine on bare hands, but seemed tooo slipery with my hunting gloves.
Thanks Chris

By the way, it's not that the Houges are ugly, they just change the "cowboy" look of the gun. No offence, just personal preference.(I actually had a Vaquero before this one, just couldn't live with the fixed sights)

I understand what you are saying but I like to practice with it the way I will hunt. Thus, I shoot the houges all the time.

minnesotahunter, If you are looking for some awesome grips, check out the custom work of Cary Chapman at http://www.clccustomgrips.com/.Your Super Blackhawk has the same grip profile as the regular Blackhawk grip frame. The 7.5" and 10" barreled Super Blackhawk's have a longer grip frame and a squared off triger guard. So if you order any, just order the regular Blackhawk grips. These grips are a bit pricy but , they are some of the very best, and Cary is very nice to deal with.

I prefer this grip . I like the pinky under grip to control the SA roll for the next shot .

I have several Single action Rugers (14). They all have ruger grips on them. check the Ruger website, They sell some nice optional grips for all their single action revolvers. I think you will find something there you will like.
