Went out to try to sight in the Encore on Saturday. I am shooting a .30-06 using a Simmons 4X scope. I was shooting with the wind coming almost directly at me. Target was about 50 yards out. Was not using sand bags just a pad on a rather large post (had to make do with what I had). Post was about 6" in diameter. I was getting wobbles and shakes like I was using an ultra high power scope on a rifle. It was so bad I couldn't keep the cross hairs on the target.

This is my first pistol scope so I am wondering with a 4X long eye relief scope does this tend to magnify the wobbles?

When I get sighted in I am going to wait until I can get to a solid bench & use sand bags. But this has me wondering about using it under field conditions.

Should I consider moving down to a 2 - 2.5X scope?

Thank you.
