Gerry has a good point about bullets. Premium bullets are nice, but "standard" bullets work just as good and countless animals have been killed with them. My favorite 30-06 load is a 180gr Sierra Gameking over 56.0gr of IMR 4350. I won't keep a rifle if it doesn't shoot that load accurately. Three years ago, I had a Barnes 180gr TSX that failed to open on impact at 154 yards, and that deer ended up getting away from me.
