I own a 5.5" MKII and squirrels are in trouble out to about 25yds with the factory sights. I assume we are talking head shots... I hate shooting squirrels in the body. As far as the original question, practical accuracy will be better with more distance between the sights, but the gun itself may be capable of the same accuracy regardless of barrel length.
