Imo any good quality 240+cast projectile will work. I like the 275-300gr range in the 44. Can't say what it'll do on "really big" critters but white-tail and black bear up to about 600lbs it'll work wonders on. For an easily obtained affordable factory load that cast core load by federal imo can't be beat. The DT load Whit speaks of is accurate and deadly and I have seen evidence of both.
