Scored an 8pt yesterday - 12/08/2011 7:16 PM
I only have a minute to post this but I got this 8pt yesterday with my 475 Linebaugh.
Update: I had seen this buck two days before while I was stalking oryx with a client. We had spotted the oryx from several hundred yards away just as they were entering a cedar break. I positioned another hunter about a mile away in case we spooked them (they'll run that far when spooked) and then returned and went after them. We had been still hunting, dodging blackbuck and whitetail does, when I spotted a bedded buck staring right at us from about 50 yards. We froze and then dropped out of sight behind the ridge top. When we did that it got his curiosity up and he got up and investigated. He walked to us and stamped his foot a few times and when he did that he caused the big 8 to stand up and move. I hadn't seen him until he stepped out from behind a screen of heavy brush but I was impressed with his size. He too was curious about what we were. (I can also hide behind a bush big fella.) They finally moved off in a stiff-legged walk and fortunately not in the direction of the oryx.
A short while later we spotted the oryx across an opening and were able to get in position for a 200 yard shot which the client made in spectacular fashion.
Now that I new where his mid-day bedroom was I felt like I had a good chance of killing him. After a few adjustments in my stand location over the next couple of days I caught him again on Wednesday evening as he moved from his bedding area to his feeding area and took him down from just under 100 yards with my FA in 475 Linebaugh.
