Ruger .480 Question - 07/11/2012 10:38 PM

Question for those of you who are .480 enthusiast and ruger enthusiast. As some of you may remember I came across and purchased a 480 the other day. I got to looking at it when it arrived and thought I would check the serial no. to date it. When I checked the number the date suprised me. The .480 dates back to 2003 but the serial number dates back to 2001. Although I did find an article that dates back to 2001. Is there any significance to this?

The frame may have been made before the barrel and cylinder were fitted.

Could be the case but it just had me thinking. Either way it's a new toy.

Just looked at it some more and noticed the spent casing that they sent was fired on 11-16-2001.

Muwahahahah

I have brass that is so old that is actually has the headstamp of 475 Ruger... but that doesn't help you with the date...

I thought the "official" coming out party was 2003, but like Rod said, they could have easily made the frame before that.

How did you get yours Whit?

I actually bought it at my local gunshop. It was displayed in the case.

Dirty Clowns at Ruger are just playing with my head I think. Anyway can't wait for the weather to brake so I can shoot this thing.
