375 Jdj loads

Hello everyone. I have been shooting a T/C 375JDJ with a 15 inch tube the last 5-6 months and have become a pretty good shot with it. What concerns me is my bullet choice. I'm not a big Hornady fan but settled on the 225 spire point.
After reading a few post, most seem to trust the 220 flat point for expansion. I know it can run lower velocities and still expand while Hornady list the 225 sp at a minimum of 2200fps.
I have yet to try the pistol out on deer(bad season for me) but do you all feel this bullet will be adequate out to 150 yards?

My load is the 225 in front of 52 grains of h-4895. I have yet to run it through the chronograph but it should be close to 2200 fps out the barrel.

While I have never tried the 225 Hornady in my 375 JDJ, I understand that it is quite hard. The proven medicine for deer sized animals in that caliber is the 220 gr flat point. It is easily effective and accurate past 150 yds.

I have extensively used the 225 Hornady on deer, groundhogs, (and one wildebeest by my friend using my gun). It's not too hard. It is excellant oin de er and will give you another 75 yards of flatter trajectory.It's not quite as violent on deer as the 220 FP, but adds more distance to the .375JDJ. 300 yd. shots are easily done with it. I only use the 220 when I want extreme shock and massive damage on game.

I like the 225. Like Doc said, I haven't found it to be too hard. I also run it in a 375/06 JDJ on the encore and it holds up to those velocities also. Pigs hate it

Thanks everyone. I prefer a pointed bullet for the noted retained energy and velocity. I feel better knowing that some of you have put this bullet to the test and are pleased.

I keep forgetting that I'm not shooting a small caliber pistol and can reach out if need be. Hopefully next season I can add some pictures with the JDJ and deer kills.
