a very accurate load in my 14" contender is 48 grains H4895. I usually shoot 270 Hornadys or 260 gn accubonds. if what your using isn't accurate, why not try something else.

I don't have any 4895 or H322.. and it is going to be a lil while before I can get to a shop that has any. This is the only powder I have on hand at the moment.

Varget will do the job, not near my paperwork right now and I do not remember how many grains, will look it up and post this evening.

Do a search on the loading data here on the sight and you will find some data for RL15 and Varget.

Robbie, these first were from a 15" TC barrel. Back then, JD didn't have load data to Varget. So I was just guessing and ran a range to try it.
Formed 444 cases, fed 210 primer, 50 degrees which was pretty cool weather in Mississippi
\:\)

51 grains. 2065
52 grains. 2142
53 grains. 2235
54 grains. 2250
55 grains. 2275

That was a 220 hornady. I was hoping to achieve 2350 but I stopped at 55 and just called it good. Never really worked with it much

In my 14" SSK barrel, the same 55 grain load if Varget ran 2230 with a CCI 200 primer and the temp was 32 degrees (warm day that winter in KS) when I tested that barrel that day. Sorry, that's all I have in this book that I found in the truck with me. For deer, the 220 is incredible so I never really tried much more bullet wise.

In the 375-06 jdj, I used the 225 spire point. It was awesome when it hit pigs and such. I would probably try it in the standard JDJ if I were to go back and start over. I'd use the same 55 grain load and work from there. That was an accurate load.

When I bought the SSK barrel several years later, JD sent a small bit of Varget data. I will have to look but I think he stopped at 55.5 grains with the 220 so the old stuff I had done was pretty close to what he stopped with also. If you shoot me an email at

Gswaggart@gmail.com

I'll shoot you a copy of the PDF that they sent me with the various load data on it.

Take care.

I load 48.0 gr of H4895 in Hornaday cases with Fed. 210 primers and Hornaday 270 gr. or Nosler 260gr Accubond or parathion. My barrel seems to prefer the Accubond.
