I've had one for years. Hunted with it once but I'm not even sure it was legal to do so back then. Not sure if Pennsylvania considers it a muzzleloader or revolver. If it's a revolver, it's legal. If it's a muzzleloader it's not, as there's a .50cal minimum for ML pistol.
Nice score btw. It's a beauty.

You can have those converted to a 50 cal as long as they are stainless Clements does conversions on them that make them a real thumper.

Very nice. Just like mine. I shoot 30 grn 3F Goex or Swiss, .451 cast or Hornady round balls. I use a felt wad on top of the powder, then a small amount of bore butter on top of the ball. I have shot all the way through deer with this load.
Shoots great out to 50 yds.
Super accurate and fun to shoot. I need to clean up my trigger pull a little but everything else is great.

For Jeff archr610:

I wrote the PA Game Commission and received a written response to my inquire, Is it Legal to hunt in PA with a Cap and Ball Percussion Revolver? The Answer is a YES But Only During the Regular Season. Enclosed bellow is the letter and response as posted on my International Black Powder Handgun Hunters Group.

Mr. Ojamaa,

Cap and Ball pistols qualify as “manually operated” revolvers and are legal for taking big game during the regular firearms season, but not the flintlock or muzzleloader seasons. We cannot comment on the bullet he references as there is not enough information to determine legality. If you want a definitive answer you should submit product samples to the Game Commission Bureau of Wildlife for evaluation.

You can send it to PA Game Commission

Subject: Hunting Big Game with Percussion Revolvers

Greetings To Whom It May Concern:

I am the inventor of a series of specialty bullets for Cap and Ball Percussion Revolvers. The Bullets are Round Flat Nosed Stepped that I named after myself known as the "Kaido Universal Stepped Bullet" series, they make a Cap and Ball revolver into a very effective big game hunting implement. Concern by myself as a hunter and my hunter customer base about the legality of using our Cap and Ball Percussion revolvers during the Regular Hunting Season for Big Game; Bear, Deer and Elk in Pennsylvania is why I am writing. Please clarify if it is legal to hunt big game in Pennsylvania during the regular season or any other season with cap and ball percussion revolvers?

Thank You,

Sincerely,

Kaido Ojamaa

Badubet:

Nice catch, That revolver is a fine piece that is an excellent hunting implement! I invented a series of Bullets that I refer to as "Universal", as they were 1st designed for Cap and Ball Percussion Revolvers for Hunting Big game. Noted author and hunter Hovey Smith has taken game with them. In his Ruger Old Army he took a fine Whitetail Buck which the hunt is documented on You Tube. I offer Bullets and Molds in 220/240 and 255 grain that will work in the Ruger Old Army and other Percussion Revolvers, myself I have taken Wild Boar with my Uberti 1858 NMA Remington and Pietta 1860 Army. Bellow is a hunt with noted author and Hunter Hovey Smith where he used a Ruger Old Army and my 240 grain Universal Bullet to take a nice Whitetail Buck Deer.
