November 22nd can't come soon enough

I've been getting trail camera pictures of this guy over the summer. He finally peeled his velvet.







While it's nice to see big bucks, the meat hunter side of me also likes to see does running around, especially within close range of the blind.

Of course. After next weekend, I'm going to get serious about shooting the revolver. It's kind of taken a back seat to the archery equipment as of late.

I'm not entirely sure how to do that. I will say, though, that both blinds are fairly close to these cameras. Those does are only about 40 to 50 yards from the one in that field.

Here's that blind I was talking about. It's about 50 yards to the right of that one camera, and situated so that it's within close range of a few deer trails that funnel into the plot.

Well, over a month later and that buck continues to show up. Heck, he was even on three of my four cameras over the course of a day.



















Less than three weeks to go. Hopefully he'll hang around until then. Fingers crossed.

We got a nice one on a trail camera about three weeks ago. Good thing it takes pictures in the dark, he showed up about 11PM.
The day time pictures are of much smaller racks.
Last year we had 18 deer in sight at one time from our sliding glass door. Not a horn in the bunch however. They were working on some new wheat I had planted as a cover crop.

Our season starts Saturday.Working on a holster tonight . Taking the 6.5 Competitor and the 4 5/8 th .45 Colt and maybe the new 7mm TCU .Will be the Competitor and TCU 's maden voyage, the .45 is a tried and trusted friend. 129 gr Hornadys in 6.5 ,130 gr Speer in 7mm and 250 gr xtp in .45. Wife will be using her 6.5 Swedish Mauser with 140 gr Hornadys.

I've had my cameras running nonstop during the rut, and I've captured pictures of several bucks, some old, some new.



















That last one isn't that notable, but he managed to sneak up within ten yards of us Sunday morning. He'll be nice in a few years.

The gun season opener is this Saturday. I've got plenty of bucks running around, and my 460 S&W is sighted in perfectly. Can't wait!
