Pigalito

Pigalito - 04/30/2015 3:34 AM

He wasn't a big one but he'll eat pretty well. We got a little cool snap so I decided to go up to a buddy's place and pay the hogs a visit. This one decided to come home with me. Model 83 44 Mag @ 97 yards. The shot wasn't the best but it dropped him in his tracks. The little ones can be tricky to shoot.

Looking downrange...

A little smaller target,Not to mention the little ones rarely stop moving for very long. Nice shooting Gary!!

I hit him about midway in the spine. I was sort of forced to aim a bit high because of some grass but it was a few inches farther back than I would like but shots on pigs this size usually have to be quick. There wasn't a feeder or anything to hold him in the area.

Great shootin' on a good eating pig, I'll bring the beer.

What load did you use?

I used one of my standard 44 loads.
Speer Deep Curl 270gr.
20.5 Grs of WW296
Federal Large Pistol Magnum Match Primer

When you can find them, the bullets are relatively inexpensive and very accurate.

Well, maybe not the best shot (not criticizing, I once hit a deer in that exact same place), but the important thing is you got him. Good job!

Well done.

I hope to tackle some piggies in the near future. Rancher friend called and is having trouble with them again. Just gotta get the time.
