Got my gun

Got my gun - 09/24/2015 12:41 PM

Ended up getting the SBH 7.5" barreled 44 mag, $450 out the door with a case. A little holster wear and a few scratches but it's rock solid, lock up is just like new from the factory. I have done some gunsmithing and have built a few flintlocks (not kit gun, spent 120-150 hours per gun) so the minor imperfections are a easy/fun fix for me. I need to get some Pachmyer grips for it and go shoot!!! So of course as soon as I buy a gun I find a better deal. I dropped the kids off at church last night and had 2 hour to kill before I picked them up so I went over to Cebelas. 3 days ago they didn?t have any used SBH's but last night they had a 2014 Blackhawk with a 6.5" barrel in 41 mag listed for $450... This gun is in perfect condition, not even a smudge on it.... So I ask the guy out of curiosity how low he could go on it and he said $350!!! just my luck!!! Oh well, I?m going to like what I have... Here are some pics

Congrats! You'll enjoy the one you have. There's always gonna be that "better deal". That's why none of us only have one gun!

As for getting the pictures in your post. Go to the picture you downloaded in your file for the bragging board. Click on the picture, then right click, copy URL. Go back to your original post, click edit. Look for the "enter an image" icon just above the box your text is typed in. When ya click on that icon, a rectangular box pops up. Paste your URL in that box.

I grabbed one picture for you. Nice gun!!! Let us know how she shoots!

Here's the rest:

Yeah, it's kind of a process to get them to display, but once you figure it out it's easy.

Anyway, nice gun! I see what you meant by a little holster wear, but don't worry too much about it. That gives it character.

You should try it without the Pac's first...The SBH 7 1/2" has always been my favorite 44 and the smooth hogleg grip just lets it roll so there is no recoil impulse.

That square trigger guard will let you know if you are holding it wrong..lol

I'd order a new ejector rod housing from Ruger and she will look almost new. That;s a nice revolver!

Looks like a great gun. Congratulations. Looks just like the one I started out with in 1979! I paint my front sight with Testors day glo modeling paint. You can get neon orange, neon green or neon pink. I am sure you will be pleased with it.

I can?t even get a comfortable grip with this silly square trigger guard, what were they thinking??? lol

I'm going to take it off and sand/file/buff out those scratches and reblue it.

Thanks, I looked on Rugers web site and according to its serial numbers this gun was made in 1998. I plan on fixing up the sights a bit.

I may be wrong, but i think that housing is aluminium. So, it'll have to be painted. If it is aluminium, you can order a steel one to replace it.

It's aluminum...and there pretty cheap from Ruger. Brownell's probly has them too.

Re: Got my gun - 09/25/2015 1:31 PM

It's anodized aluminum.

Re: Got my gun - 09/25/2015 1:33 PM

If you want a steel one that you can touch up and blue; otherwise there's no need to replace it.
