Which cast bullet for a 41 Magnum?

Which cast bullet for a 41 Magnum? - 11/02/2016 1:05 AM

I haven't been able to find any 41 Magnum factory ammo for my 41 Magnum Blackhawk. I've got enough Remington factory rounds to last me this season, but it's clear I'll need to start reloading for it at some point soon. Because of the gun's short barrel and relatively low speeds, I'm seriously considering loading cast bullets in it. My question to you all is which brand, weight, and style should I look for?

I don't have a 41 mag, but when I had a 410 GNR I shot these LBT style cast in it very well. I never did get around to hunting with it, but accuracy was there and I have no doubt it would've been good on game. I still have a lot of them left and intend to try them in the 414 Supermag, too.

You could go to mountainmolds.com and have them make you any type of mould you wish. The design software is right on the site and you make it anyway you want.

I've owned at least one 41 magnum since 1967 & have taken a lot of game with them from small game up to antelope, hogs, deer & 2 elk & they have always worked to perfection.
For years the knock was always that you could only get a 210 gr. slug, at least in factory ammo & that discouraged some hunters. Many years ago I bought a Saeco 230 gr. Keith style mould & it's always been my favorite for everything. I also like a 250 gr. LBT WFN slug & took my last elk with it, great bullet. It has a wider meplat that a Keith 44 slug.

That 255 cast performance is a real killer. Very accurate. Expect 2" or less at 100 yards.

I've been shooting 265gr LFN cast for years in all my .41's.
Recoil is a bit on the harsh side but man it hammers anything on the other end!

Randy, what's been on the other end? What powders are you using, velocity? Should be a real hammer.
