Burris pistol scope

I'm in need for a few new scopes ,I've had good luck with the USA made scopes that are no longer made,how are the new Burris scopes holding up that are made overseas?

Don't know but I will be able to tell you in a few days. Mine is coming from Midway USA(not an endorsement)and I am putting it on top of a SBH Hunter.... I heard that the Fullfield are made overseas but the rest are made in the USA.

Looking forward to a report,the USA made ones are bringing good money on eBay seems to be a lot of intrest in the old ones.

Two years ago during load testing with my Encore in 35-06 JDJ the Burris 3x12 B-Plex scope eye piece section shattered, I was 14 days out of opening of deer season. In haste I took it off and sent it in to Burris, planning to switch barrels for something else for the opener the Encore hammer fell apart in my hand. It was the Encore hammer that bounced and crushed the scope, no fault of the scope. Burris called me upon receipt of the scope and said it was damaged beyond repair and they would ship me a new replacement. Three days later my new 3x12 B-Plex arrived, Burris stood by their ?forever? warranty.
I have 3 Burris 3x12 B-Plex on my Encore pistol barrels, 1 Burris 2x7 Plex on my 358JDJ Contender. I recently added 2 Burris 2x7 Plex for my BFR 475 Linebaugh & BFR 500 JRH. I also use their FFII 4.5 x 14 on a couple Encore rifle barrels.
I also have 3 Leupold 2.5x8 and 1 small 4x, in comparison I find the clarity of the two (Leupold & Burris) on pair with each other, the Leupold has a bigger eye objective which is nice. My 4x is small and over 20 years old, the Burris is much sharper and I plan to replace it with a new Burris 2x7 Plex later this summer.
The Burris?s scopes have worked for me over these many years trouble free. Hope this helps.

I have about 15 Burris 3-12X BPlexes on my XPs, Encores, Contenders from .223 to .375/.284, some old, some new, for the last 15 years. My total number of problems has been exactly ONE. The crosshairs stopped responding to movement on a .309 JDJ. Burris fixed it-no charge. That was about 6 years ago. I'm totally sold on this scope until someone makes a better long range handgun scope.

Hey Doc, quit chiming in until you get a little more experience.... I too like the 3X12's, just ordered my first one with the BP reticle.

I love my Burris scope, although it's on a rifle. It's a FullField II. I'll be swapping my Simmons Pro Hunter pistol scope on my Encore 7-08 for the Burris Pistol Scope as soon as I can. The Simmons will be mounted on something else. It's been a good scope, I'm just a little partial to Burris now.

That forever warranty means I only need to buy once.

OK, Dick. Maybe in another 39 years of exclusive handgun hunting I might have a clue what's going on.
You're gonna love the BPlex. I shot a groundhog a few days ago at 412 with my 6mmAI Encore. Ranged him, put the plex that matched 400 slightly above him and dead 'hog. Pretty easy.
A little clue, for most calibers below .30, if you sight in 2 1/2" high at 100 you'll be dead on at 250. Each Plex is another 50 yds. and top the bottom crosshair is around 500. Not exact, but pretty close, depending on the round.
For anything over .30, use the 2 1/2" high at 100, then dead on at 200, and each Plex is 50 with the bottom crosshair 400.
.30 cal. is the only cal. that doesn't fit this exactly.
It's really cool with my .375/.284 to shoot deer and groundhogs from 350 to 400 with witnesses. They can't believe a round that big will do things like that at those distances. I live and breath this stuff. Helps keep me young.

But it still comes with the forever warranty no questions asked.

I have had seriously good results with the Burris LER's with BP reticles. Don't use as much as I used to, but they work

The Burris 3x12's are great scopes. I have 4 ballistic plex's and 3 non BP's
on XP's that I shoot metallic silhouette with.

Being fairly new to the world of handgun hunting and having no experience with scoped pistols I'm curious what the pros and cons are of the standard plex reticle and ballistic plex reticle. It would be mounted on a raging bull 454 with an 8 inch barrel

Standard plex reticle is fine for a revolver. B-Plex is an aid for long distance shooting.

With them being priced the same is there a downfall to having the b plex on a revolver? I like the idea of being able to move it to a longer range gun in the future as long as the b plex reticle isn't too busy

Maybe a 2-7X BPlex on a revolver. The 3-12 is not needed. Very few revolvers able to shoot far enough to make the 3-12 usable. Even fewer shooters to take advantage of the 3-12 on a revolver. Not a lot of revolvers accurate enough at very long ranges to make a 3-12 useful.
3-12 on a single shot is a whole different story. It's the best.
The Plexes on either of these would be tough to line up to make them useable on revolvers. The revolver rounds just don't shoot flat enough to make the plexes very useful. However, on singles shots, most of them shoot flat enough to make the plexes usable from 400-500 yds.
I still think the best revolver scope is the 2-6X Bushnell Elite. I've used mine on game out to 200 yds.

I have a 2x7 Burris pistol scope on a 3030 contender that's ten years old with no issues,very clear and good near dark,not sure where made though.

I was looking at the 2x7 but the Bushnell elite looks good as well. I haven't been able to find it online anywhere but on the Bushnell website though. I even called Cabelas and they said they didn't offer it. The Bushnell Trophy pistol scope is everywhere but not the elite. Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'll take any that I can get

Thanks. My only concern with the Bushnell is the fov@100 yds is only 10ft/4ft compared to the burris @21ft/7ft. I would say my time hunting is split 50/50 between the woods and the fields. For those of you with the experinece should I be concerned about the fov difference? I'm mostly thinking about the 30yd shot in the woods and being able to find my target

For the thirty yard shot you turn it down to 2x. I am not trying to be funny but I always think about where my shot may come from and set the scope for that range. Remember you can usually turn it up for the longer shots but you may not have time to turn it down for the short shots.

The real key is to practice with whatever you choose.
See how long it takes to go from carry position to ready to shoot.

As mentioned, turn your power down when in tight cover or even when stand hunting.
If it is a longer shot and you need more power (you can do a lot with the less magnification), you will typically have time to turn your magnification up.

I'm with you on keeping the magnification set low. Right now I'm between the burris 2x7 and the Bushnell elite 2x6. If I understand it correctly the fov on the Bushnell on 2 power @ 100 yds is 10ft. The question I have is will that fov decrease incrementally with the yardage? So at 30 yards it would be 3 feet. I'm sure either one will take some getting used to. I just want to understand what I'm purchasing as well as I can before I make a decision. Also if I understand it correctly the Bushnell has a constant eye relief regardless of magnification where the burris varies with the magnification setting.

I have the older 3200 series scopes and I've been very happy with them. I have 2-7X Burris' and like them but between the two I prefer the Bushnell. Bushnell's site shows the FOV is 4 feet with the 3500 series at 6X.

My brother and I have several of the early 1990's 2.5-7 Burris Pistol Scopes. I was switching my newer barrels and revolvers over to UltraDots because I was not all that impressed with low light performance with the older USA made Burris Pistol scopes.
While giving my new MGM 357 maximum barrel a workout last year about this time I had the front end come apart on one of my older Burris scopes and sent it in for repair. They replaced it with a New 2-7 Plex. I was planning on selling it, and getting another 30mm UltraDot, but I ended up mounting it on my CVA Optima V2 muzzle loading pistol. I LIKE IT!!
The new scope is way brighter than the older ones. Hunting in low light, if you can make the deer out, you can find it in the scope, and get the crosshairs on target. If I had used one of the newer Burris scopes earlier, I probably would have fewer UltraDots.

I have 27 Burris handgun scopes in various configurations. I have found the 2 x 7 to be the most versatile for various conditions and guns, due to field of view. For Western hunting, the 3 x 12 is almost a must have. I bought my first Burris scope from Don Burris in the early seventies, and have been using them ever since.
