41 Magnum Hog bullet - 08/28/2017 10:51 AM

A buddy of mine invited me to go on a hog hunt with him in March.

Looking for a good hog bullet for my newly acquired 41 Blackhawk. I was thinking something in a cast bullet, 250-265 grain range but also know it may not be needed.

What have you 41 Mag hog hunters had the best luck with??

Will also do a little digging here on the forum in other threads to see what I can come up with.

MLT, I`ve not used any cast bullets in my 41`s for boar...All those take with either a 210 gr. XTP or A-frame...Loaded up of Matts Bullets 225 gr. Keith SWC but have not had the chance to use them....

James, how did the XTP perform and what and were the longest kills 75 yds, 100etc, I am using a 10mm long slide with XTP's and likely won't be over 50 yds?
Thanks

Mo Long - I've used the 210 Speer GDHP with great success on deer and hogs alike. (Bullet is now called the deep curl handgun hunting)

Nomo - I had better success with the 180 gr XTP than the 155's out of the Glock platform. You'll be able to push them a bit faster out of the long slide than I do with my G20.

I have taken exactly one 270# boar but am very proud of him anyway used a Mountain Mold home cast LWNGC
.33 meplat about one inch through the hide .400 inch crimp grove to meplat-- hornady .416 GC and Bac lube
three shots all clean through from a blue 5.5" Redhawk .41
mv was 1320 fps since it was a custom conversion could have gone up to about 1400 but this was enough- I was around pigs on a farm but never heard one bellow as this one did on the kill shot from back of ribs forward to exit in front of the left shoulder

never had a problem with the .41 cal. 210XTP`s.... The longest shot was over 90yds, but I was using my FA`s and MV was over 1700FPS, otherwise my 657 ran them at factory specs....

I've never lived in hog country and have never shot a feral hog but I'm willing to bet this bullet would work. A .411, 280 grain LBT WLNGC. My current 41 loves this bullet. In fact all three of the 41s I've had, have shot this bullet well. One cougar didn't like it all that much.

That boolit looks like a beauty, I had Veral make me a 240 WFN. need to cast some.
To the OP...
I killed one hog with the 41. I used cast performance's 250 WFN style over Win 296. Hog barely went 10 yds and had a good blood trail if one had been needed.

MLT, I used a factory Hornady XTP on a hog this past spring. It when thru and thru the neck area. Video post here. It was a .480 Ruger
