Follow up on Fury bullets

This is a follow up to my post on Fury Custom Bullets which I had made in a 300gr Bonded JHP in .475 caliber... Since there is no reload data for a jacketed 300gr .475, I used the max load for a 325 XTP in 475 Linbaugh that was 33.5grs of H-110 because my bullet was 25grs lower in weight. After resighting my 10" Freedom I put two rounds about 2" apart at 100 and left it there. Its been awhile since I`ve hunted from a Pennsylvania tree stand so I buckled my pack on the cross bar for rest... Long story short, three does appear about 50 or so yards away through a hole in the pines. Scope was on 4X and I settled the cross hair on the vital area of the this doe who was broadside...BOOM...they turned and ran over a rise where I found my deer about 40yds from the shot. My bullet grooved the top of heart, damaged both lungs and made an almost two inch exit hole in ribs. Great whitetail performance...... Next day my friends son had made a low shot on a doe and asked to try and put her down if I spotted her... Sure enough she jumped up about 50 and ran.. I had the cross hair lead her and shot which dumped her. Put a 22 in head... My bullet hit the top of back leg but destroyed too much meat as shown in fourth photo, however she did not get away... Recovered this bullet that showed complete expansion and weighed 204.7 grains losing 95.3grs. The bonding worked as advertised.. Fury Custom Bullets advertisement say`s "I make the bullets you want but can`t buy" which sums this up perfectly...

Sounds like the HP gave great expansion and at 300 gr out of the Freedom, I know it was really moving. I bet a 370 gr FP would be perfect for boar. Great Company and Great Bullet. Congratulations Wild Man 😜

Nice going James. Should work pretty well at the more modest velocity of the .480. That 10 in FA should have been smoking them along pretty fast.

jb, I believe your right about that... I had some of the same bullets loaded in 480 cases under IMR-4227 for my five shot Bisley but did not get the chance to use the iron sight gun.... However, running them that fast showed plenty... Called the owner of Fury and we discussed the performance. Everybody was happy....

To be honest, I don?t like the fact that it lost nearly a third of its weight on a doe and didn?t exit. James, did you specify a really thin jacket? They seem very soft. Those remind me of Hawk bullets. Just trying to look at this objectively.

Thats what is nice about these bullets though. You can specify jacket thickness and i believe lead hardness as well. I am really thinking of getting a long nose heavier than 210 gr thick jacketed 41 bullet to push pretty hard. Cant wait. Cant wait to see what u cook up next james on these.

That's sweet bullets you can tailor make to the hardness you want,Shoot something then call the maker and discuss the results and change what you don't like. If the accuracy holds up almost to good to be true.Well done James!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm telling yall, this is a handgun hunter's dream bullet maker....particularly in odd calibers like .475

The mainstream bullet makers do some things that really hamstring some of the calibers. The 41 And 475/480 calibers are two of the main ones that have been neglected imho. Having a bullet maker that will listen to out insights and recommendations is like gold

It is great to see a manufacturer in contact with the end user of the product. Looks like there is a lot of potential there.

A little background on how this all came about... Francise sent me the website address after he ordered some 475 spitzers... After looking over the Fury site I figured a .475 cal. bonded 300gr JHP scootin along at a good clip would be just the ticket for whitetail (plus drop the midrange when compared to a 400 grain). With no reload info for the 300 I used the max load for a 325.. All NEW ground for me..... Now if I had only shot my doe with the 2" exit hole the test would have had a good ending, however, I helped take a wounded deer on the run with the bullet hitting the top of the back leg broadside.... It dropped the deer along with tremendous meat damage... Would I normally shoot a deer in the back leg?? No... Even though it lost 90+grs in weight, the bullet held together and did what it was suppose to... After looking at the recovered bullet, it was no stretch to realize that a stouter bullet would be needed to run at those velocities or, I could just lower the speed of the bonded 300....
I get excited when I hear of a new hunting handgun bullet and in this case I ordered them...took the time to do some research and handload them... take some more time at the range and check their accuracy.... and finally put one through a deer`s vitals to check performance to ultimately pass this information on to you the members.... Something I`ve tried to do since I first became a member..... My thoughts on a cold December day..

As limited as our bullets are that we have to use in Handgun hunting, Fury Bullets are a much needed option. Even in single shots, bullets that operate as advertised in the slower short barreled velocities are kinda limited. Just food for thought
