445 Super Mag Reloading Question - 05/19/2018 2:15 AM

Before I order reloading dies, I just want to make sure. Can I use 44SPCL/44Mag dies of ANY company to reload my 445, or only certain ones. Thanks in advance.

I have personally used Lee .38\357 dies to load 357 Maximum\Supermag. As I understand it, they will all work, but I'm sure others can clarify that info.

I have used a Lee 44 Mag die set to reload 445 Super mag. I just happened to have a set of these dies and they worked for me. I will suggest that you apply a little case lube to the brass even though the die is carbide. I found this out the hard way using a Lee carbide sizer for 41 Mag to resize my 414 Super mag cases. After about 15 to 20 cases, I ran one up into the die and it didn't want to come back out. Ended up pulling the carbide ring out of the die trying to remove the case. I seem to recall a mention of using lube on the longer cases way back in my mind, but of course didn't recall it till after I ruined my die. Good luck with the 445, it is pretty potent.

I'm using .44 Rem Mag dies from Redding for my 445 SM. I use a decaping die first for primer removal then resize about 3/16" of the case with sizer die, only because the decaping rod set this way will not punch out the primer. I'm shooting a .431" hardcast bullet in Starline brass and even on fired cases you can't slide a bullet in, so the little bit of sizing and a good heavy crimp does quite well. You could spend the extra $100-$125 dollars and wait time for a 445 SM set to be made, but you should be fine with several of the 44 Rem Mag dies out there. I've just been getting started in the 445 SM realm and find it to be a very accurate and nice shooting cartridge. Good luck and enjoy.
